Nice decorated chalets and stunning view out of the rooms over the fields. Very positive is the possibility to walk/ bike through the reserve. And for the big 5 you can take the adjacent Welgevonden drives. Lynette was a great ranger during our stay. Overall a topper to visit! Value for money.

We stayed in Queens 4-bed chalet for 3 nights midweek. Queens is very private with a large living area and lovely covered deck and view towards Welgevonden game reserve (although the trees in front obscure some of the view at present). There are 2 bedrooms, one with 2 single beds, but both rooms have very limited wardrobe space - and 2 well-appointed bathrooms. The 2nd bedroom leads off from the kitchen and the shower has a full length picture window onto the mountainside behind the cottage (fine for a family, but a bit inhibiting otherwise, since the braai area is also situated behind the cottage!) All the pillows are of foam, which we found very hard.
We stayed on a self-catering basis, so can't comment on the restaurant or bar. The kitchen is well equipped except for the lack of ovenware or a braai pan for our meat.
The reserve is great for walking and mountain biking, since there are no dangerous animals - this was the main reason why we chose Kololo. We went on a game drive to Welgevonden, very ably guided by Andrew. We were lucky to witness a cheetah stalking a herd of zebra and taking down a young foal, only to be tackled and chased off by his momma - very exciting!

This was the fifth time we, family of four, spent our holiday at Kololo. Kololo is easy to be reached by car from Jo'burg. And it is malaria free territory! For us it feels almost as a second home! The beautiful situated game reserve were we can walk or bicycle to see the giraffes, zebra's and the other animals. And the big five safari's we did every day in Welgevonden with rangers Lynette and Andrew were unique! All the accommodations are beautifully furnished and very comfortable, so you can easily spent a week here!

What a wonderful weekend at Kololo Game Reserve. Intimate facility, right next door to Welgevonden Game Reserve. Beautiful venue, with staff trying hard to make the stay memorable! Mission accomplished team!

I stayed at Kololo Game Reserve for 6 nights and it was never enough! This is a must visit! Service from Front Desk, to Housekeeping to Restaurant is amazing! Kololo is situated in the bush, out of the hustle and bustle of the city life. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Meals are great with a good complement of good South African wines. Nicely set-up cold buffet breakfast, intimate a la carte lunch menu, set menu dinners and good sundowners. Even though there's no cellphone coverage in the rooms, there is FREE WIFI! I was lucky to spot elephants and a cheetah in the comfort of the restaurant top deck.
Would definitely come back especially for the game drives at Welgevonden.
