Where collecting beautiful shells is like an olympic sport...we loved it so much we wrote a song about it! It's amazing that you can have your own private island (sandbar) for the day and when they drop you off and pick you up there's only a little area of sand above water but the rest of the day you have your own island to do whatever you want to on!!!

My husband and I had one of the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays at Kulu Bay Resort. From the moment we were picked up and transported to our destination, we knew we were in for a treat.
The staff were extremely warm and made us feel very comfortable on our arrival. Our accommodation was a few meters from the pristine waters and hearing the waves lapping against the steps of our Bure was a unique experience.
The food was fresh and delicious 😊
Having a drink at the bar before our meals was also a good option as we were given snacks to nibble on which added a nice touch.
This holiday was a birthday treat and when the chef heard it was my birthday, she made a cake and we were treated to a lovu feast.
The fish was freshly caught and the banquet that we enjoyed that night was unforgettable. We also had the delight of being part of a traditional kava ceremony.
The sand bar picnic was one of the highlights 😊
Quiet, Peaceful, Beautiful

This is not your typical tropical resort. This is where you come to unplug and really remove yourself from modern amenities. Set in a beautiful bay on a smaller island off of mainland Fiji, Kulu Bay offers peacefulness and relaxation but in a much calmer sense than a larger, mainland resort. The staff are super friendly, you get your own Bure, bungalow house right on the water. Three meals a day are included in the dining room, there is no phone, tv, internet, etc. You can snorkle, visit a Fijian village, kayak, read a book on your deck, watch the clouds and ocean, you can just "be" here. The only downside was the lengthy trip from airport, about a 3 hour drive and 40 minute boat ride. But that is also the beauty of it, you're so far from all of the distractions. Kulu Bay, a very special place.
Disappointing!!!!

My husband and I have recently returned from Kulu Bay Resort. I wish I had read all the negative reports in their entirety prior to booking seven nights. The negative feedback is true and accurate in every single comment. I always choose to believe the good rather than the bad. Unfortunately in this case I was mistaken. The only thing the resort has in its favour is the snorkelling of the beach.
There are much better resorts and amenities in the Fiji islands we have stayed in. We
would not recommend this resort to anyone, let alone family and friends.
The resort has been opened for 10 years and there are very few reviews for that amount of time, the fact is they have no repeat guest and there are no guest at all for up to three months at a time. This bit of information was related by the staff.
We will never return to Kulu Bay Resort!!!
A lovely spot with so much potential, but disappointing

We visited Kulu Bay Resort for a week in March, and I finally am getting around to my review. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Kulu Bay, particularly the staff, our trip to the school and the kids performance, and our picnic to the island. The picnic was the highlight. Our villa was so roomy and bright and airy. We were happy with the arrangements that were made for us to complete our open water diving at a neighbouring resort, although we had expected to be able to do it at Kulu Bay Resort.
Unfortunately, we don't plan to return, even though we are going back to Fiji next year. Our first impression when reaching Kula Bay was disappointment because of the lack of upkeep. We felt that although the staff was doing their best, there was a lack of resources for them. By that I mean on-site professional management for daily operations as well as supervision and materials needed for maintenance of the resort. We thought that the resort was a little run down. Also, after dinner activities were not performed. The coconut story and learning Fijiian language were offered in the afternoon. The meals were less than we expected. For the most part, there wasn't any appetizer, and the meals were not as good as other places we have stayed. The uniforms of the staff. The dining room women wore uniforms that were either ill-fitting or stained. The material would be so uncomfortable--the same fabric as the table napkins and tablecloths. (I understand that the staff has been provided with new uniforms since our visit.)
We thought the resort has so much potential, but it is as if the owners are not really interested in its quality. It's like the resort that was forgotten. I think that the staff may feel demoralized with so few resources and so few guests. They are wonderful people, and I think that this resort should and could be a source of pride for them . I really hope that the owners will invest in managing ad maintaining this resort.
Because we did enjoy so many aspects of Kulu Bay Resort, we are disappointed that we don't want to return. But we do have many fond memories of our time spent there. We wish the resort success--for the sake of the villagers who work there.
