Kyriad hotel Chalon

We have just spent the night at the Kyriad hotel on route to Calais. The hotel is very pleasant and our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was quite comfortable and a good size. I will keep a note of the hotel should I return in the future.
Better than expected

Great central position with lots of parking nearby. We parked on the square but there seems to be some kind of hotel parking as well
Simple, clean, air conditioned, two weary travellers after a 500 mile drive it gave us all we needed. Basic but ok
Avoid at all cost!

We stayed here on an overnight stop before heading north. It was the only available hotel in the city due to the music festival taking place that evening. On arrival, as I was about to walk into the reception, two ladies walked out of the door past me. I thought they were guests but it turns out it was the reception staff going around the side of the building for a cigarette. When she eventually came back in she booked us in and gave me a key to a room. Arriving at the room I noticed the door was open, upon looking inside I noticed the room hadn't been serviced (see pic). I went back to reception to complain and she abruptly told me that I may have to wait, motioning that we had maybe arrived too early in the day (1530hrs). I asked for another room to which she gave us one on the other side of the corridor. Arriving at this room the cleaner opens the door to greet us and explain the room will be free shortly, we wait outside the room for around 10 minutes before being able to get in.
The rooms seem recently refurbished but small, they are definitely not cleaned well and both of us have left with small bug bites all over our bodies. The hotel for what you get is definitely not worth the money at around €81 per night. It is worth noting that the hotel is disjointed, so the reception is separate to most of the rooms and the secure garage, which is dimly lit, is up the street and not attached to the property.
Interesting and quirky hotel

I have mixed feelings about this hotel, they have secure car parking which is around the corner from the hotel and underground. The receptionist spoke very good English and was helpful. The room was quite spacious and adequate but very warm even though the weather wasn't. The air con didn't work so I would not like to stay there on a hot day. Very close to all restaurants so excellent location. We were half way on our route to Dieppe so just stopped off here and booked it through the Tourist Information office, who were incredibly helpful. A lovely town and well worth a stop over.
Not sure what to expect

I am not familiar with this chain our its competitors
Overall ok as it was clean, nice bed, modern TV and coffee making facilities in the room
But, nowhere to hang the shower handle as you shower and more significant, I could hear the next door guest snoring as if he was in my bed!
Quite casual reception who does not offer help with how to find your room....surprisingly, you have to walk around the dirty laundry skids and behind cars to enter the breakfast room....
Good if you are on a budget I guess
