Nice view with barking dogs
Lars Bon 17/06/2017 10:32Situated 12 minutes drive from Levanto in a small very small place named Dosso. To small to call a village with no shops, bars, cafes, restaurants - only houses.
You can walk to a nearby restaurant called Antiga Ustaia Zita in Lavaggiorosso. You need to make a reservation as it is a popular small place, super value for money, but don't go there if You expect a good glass of wine. See my review of the restaurant!
Rooms are ok, but very basic. There is a small fridge (minibar), so You can buy white wine, beer or water or You can buy your own stuff in Levanto and put it in.
There is a terrasse with a stunning view. Here breakfast is served from 8 o'clock. Breakfast is very good. You have your custom made omelet, good cheeses (blue cheese was fantastic), parma ham, and super home made marmelade.
You get a parking permit to put in the window, so You can park everywhere except the beach road in Levanto. Best choice if You intend to see Cinque Terra is to park just outside the train station in Levanto. In the station You buy a "cinque Terra card" which is valid for the whole day. The 16 € include fee to work the paths, train between Levanto and any Cinque Terra station, as may stops as You like and also bus between Manarola and Volastra. Remember to validate the card in the ticket machine at the station or You will get fined! Keep the card in your wallet and not in your pocket. I kept my card in my pocket but as it was very humid and I was sweating like a pig doing al the tracking, the card did not survive and the validation stamp became unreadable, so I had to buy train tickets on top of the ruined card!!! You don't need hiking shoes - normal running shoes is fine. Remember water. At sunset music of barking dogs starts and it does not stop before after midnight, so remember earplugs.
Simply Amazing in Every Way
AirTrafficManon 17/08/2016 11:01As a business traveler who spends over 150 nights a year in upscale hotels this place is at or near the top of my list. If you want your family or friends to think you are a genius then make a reservation at this B&B because it is a "wow". It exceeded every expectation and was as near to perfection as you can get.
The B&B is located a short 10 minute drive outside of Levanto so a car is necessary. Yet this 10 minutes gets you up into the hills overlooking the sea and the town of Levanto while giving you such a sense of serenity that you might even forget about why most people come to the area, to tour Cinque Terre.
Property: 7 rooms of which only a couple have a view of the scenic area. We had a quad room which didn't have a view but that was ok because going down to sit on the terrace was a treat. The location is in Dosso which is a very, very small italian village that is about a 40 yard walk down a paved walkway from the parking area.
Rooms: Wifi, television, refrigerator, hair dryer and other amenties in the room (no coffee/tea maker or ironing board but I am sure they can accomodate). Extremely clean and well appointed. Beds were very comfortable.
Food: Breakfast is served in the dining room in which you can eat at one of the tables or take it out to the terrace. Breakfast only with made to order egg dishes, pastries, meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, cereals, juices, etc. Fantastic and fresh.
Service: Top notch. I received an introductory email shortly after making my reservation that had good information on location and how to get there. Carlo (owner) and Francesco would simply bend over backwards to help and were extremely knowledgable about how to tour the area.
Highly enjoyable stay
kojowakizbion 16/07/2016 00:38It firstly is a great setting for a place to stay. It's set in a tiny little hamlet above Levanto, with a nice drive up the mountain. The staff was very patience with us as we arrived very late after midnight and treated us exceptionally.
The rooms were great and really nice. But the breakfast was remarkable. The breakfast was served outside with a beautiful view, the staff was very attentive to the smallest detail and made their outmost to make one feel comfortable and not wanting anything, because they supplied everything.
Great place to stay, in a great place, in a beautiful house with fantastic staff and breakfast.
Peaceful place, lovely staff
FeliceInViaggioon 05/07/2016 13:05The staff at L'Antico Borgo are attentive and kind. The setting is peaceful and charming and the views are stunning. Linger at breakfast - you'll want to sample everything and have extra helpings of the homemade sweets and seasonal fruit. Sipping refills of morning coffee on the terrace while watching the swallows swoop across the verdant landscape is a rejuvenating experience. Carlo and Francesco are excellent hosts, from the initial contact to their thoughtful suggestions regarding where to eat, walk and swim. Beds are really comfortable, rooms are quiet and spotless and the common areas are inviting, breezy and full of light. A Levanto parking pass for B&B guests is such a nice plus. I will be back for sure and would happily recommend L'Antico Borgo to anyone looking for a peaceful elegant hideout as a base for exploring the local territory.
Cosy place in little hamlet above town
Rolf Zon 19/06/2016 19:40Very unusual place you must visit if you are not effraid driving 15 minutes outside town up the hill in this unusual place. The B&B offers a parking just above the house, 3 minutes to walk to the nice accomodation. B&B offers a nice terrasse for breakfast with great view over the near town, the sea and habour. You will also benefit of the nice service to get a dring before or after dinner. Out room was spacious with view, just fantastic.
