OK place to stay, manage your expectations

The resort is pretty nice, relaxing and looks great. everything is neatly organized. Reception is good as well. Great view, private beach with chairs and shower, nice market, bar, pool (with showercaps, WHY?) walking distance from levanto.

Our cottage was not so nice: the place is incredibly outdated.
Bedroom: No real curtains, just a see through piece of cloth. Matrass was way to soft to be comfortable. perhaps add a fan to keep the air going, the warmth gets stuck inside and there is no circulation

Bathroom: Extremely smelly of sewer and mold. smell came from the small faucet. The bathroom curtain is moldy with blacks spots everywhere, the showerhead was calcified and the drain area was dirty, rusted and the paint sticks to your feet. the walls are covered in strange leftovers of moisture or other fluids. they might want to use some strong bleach

Livingroom: OK, couches are actually beds folded up. quite uncomfy but who stays inside during summer?

Kitchen: very small and not clean. dirty cloth in the cupboard and not all cutlery was clean.
Balcony: great view but folding chairs are broken, with sharp rusted edges. quite dangerous.

I read the owners response several times stating that its not a 4* hotel, which i understand but nevertheless it could have been cleaner and more confortable.

Would i go back? yes but only if the cottages are upgraded or the prices is lowered.
Another note: if you have reduced mobility, dont go here. Steep and long walks require legs of steel.

Relaxing quiet place!

In a nutshell La Francesca Resort is a large private area with everything you will need to really relax without any worries.
There is a small bar where Italian style breakfast is served every morning together with a minimarket where you can buy all the essentials you may need such as food to cook or even basic things like shampoo.
Parking is available with several spots around the resort which made it easy for us to go anywhere from that location to the nearby towns. A pool, private beach and its own restaurant were also features that really made an impression on me.
The properties are located along a hill that takes you directly to their private beach. All bungalows are equipped with a small kitchen which is perfect if you want to cook you own meal and save some money (The Cinque Terre area is quite expensive for meals).

Wonderful stay!

The peacefulness , the flowers , the light on the sea from the balcony of our apartment, the walking through the tunnels to the villages: it is all very special. We are very glad with the new matresses and the upgrade of the bathroom. We came here numerous times. The restaurant serves good food and the guy at the bar is very welcoming.

Marvellous place, but deserted in March

We had seen "La Francesca" three years ago during a walk from Bonassola. We absolutely loved its position on this slope above the sea and decided to stay there for a week during our next trip to Liguria. It was indeed a wonderful week. We had a nice, newly decorated house (# 424) in a perfect position to watch the sea, the rocks, the sunsets, even the snow-capped Maritime Alps to the west. We were pleased with the furniture and the bathroom installations, good new mattresses, beddings and towels. I think part of the controversy around La Francesca is due to a misunderstanding. It's not a 4 star hotel, but a 4 star "villaggio turistico" which means that there is only a basic standard of accomodation, no room service etc. But everything was neat and clean. Contrary to others' experience, heating - which was needed in the evenings and nights! - was included.
The only downside was that the complex was practically deserted. It was nice to have silence and peace, but we would have liked to sit in the bar to have a coffee and to buy our provisions in the mini market. So, we were forced to get everything from Bonassola or Levanto. The restaurant was only open on Saturday evenings for the weekend guests. The food was good and the waiters charming. One of them even gave us his lighter, as we had no matches for the gas cooker!
All in all, I would recommend this place for nature lovers with a good level of physical fitness. We used to hike in the region and cycle in the tunnels between Framura and Levanto which was what we wanted but to get up another 85 meters from sea level in the evening was an additional cardiac exercise ;-)
The views from our balcony and the beautiful little beach were unforgettable. The grounds were lovely with their trees, shrubs, and spring flowers. We will be back!

Beautiful place

La Francesca Resort

We stayed there for a week this year in September. Everything is great, but it's important to know a few things. It's indicated to take with you toilet paper, soap (you find one in the bathroom, but that's all you get :-) ), and everything you need. There is a small market, but it's not open all day long and prices are a bit higher than in supermarkets... Besides that, you can't find always what you want.
Breakfast is the usual Italian one... We considered that's better to have beakfast on the terrace admiring the view.
The unit we stayed in had besides the bedroom, kichinette and bathroom (with hairdryer), a small living room with a sofa, table, chairs and a small TV. Table and chairs are also on the terrace.
They have a swimming pool, where the access is free. Take with you swimming caps; or you have to buy them from there (from the pool bar).
The food in the restaurant "Rosa di Mare" was excellent at fair prices. The personnel from here is friendly.
I didn't like that there were no nets on the windows - there were no mosquitos, but there were little lizards... I was afraid of it not to get in.
Levanto is accessible by foot through a former railway tunnel in just 20 minutes.
It has a private beach, small and intimate.

So...enjoy your holiday!
