It kept us happy

We booked a couple of nights here so that we could do the Caminito del Rey walk.
Arriving at night from the Ardales direction we'd come along a twisty road with no signs of life and all of a sudden there seemed to be a bunch of restaurants and what not which was a bit of a relief - I think we'd expected to be a bit stranded.
"Street" parking was easy and free, check in was easy, the staff were welcoming, the room was close to reception and the room was good and spacious. The bathroom was a bit on the worn out side but it all worked well enough. There was plenty of hanging space. The television was very limited in stations - well it was missing most of the state broadcaster's channels, mobile coverage was nil and the WiFi in the room was very hit and miss.
The food in the restaurant was good, solid stuff, the breakfasts were good too - juice, toast, ham and cheese, coffee etc. The bar had perfectly reasonable prices, was well stocked, it was open and it had other customers - unlike some of those soulless, overpriced hotel bars. As there are a couple of other bar/restaurants within easy walking distance we were able to move from one bar or restaurant to another to add a bit of variety to the evening.
All in all, for a couple of nights it did a very competent job.

Coffee was ok but were unable to get any confectionary apart from two stale doughnuts to share between the four of us.
The service was reasonable but seemed to take ages. The staff were not able to offer any kind of sustenance apart from the two doughnuts Disappointing
Basic Hotel

Nice looking hotel. Very helpful and friendly front desk. Room was large and clean. Bathroom was adequate. Room is a bit dated and the bathroom could use a make over. Sliding door opened to a Juliet balcony. The location was great if you are doing the El Caminito Del Rey walk. There is free parking on the street or paid parking behind the hotel. Breakfast could be purchased at the restaurant next door but no real menu.

We've been to this area many times before on day trips from San Pedro but wanted to spend longer as we love it so much.
Found this hotel on a web search and decided to give it a try.
Good decision! Lovely hotel, great location and lovely helpful staff. Excellent food - overall everything we could wish for. We'll be back for sure.

The hotel's monopoly on bed-space close to the Caminito's North entrance seems to have led to a certain amount of complacency. Rooms and beds tick the 'get some rest' box but don't make you want to hang around too long.
There is a feeling of being on the set of a hotel in a combination of Psycho/ The Shining/ Fawlty Towers: aged photos hang on wood-chip walls in the restaurant; wind whistles through draughty windows; the flimsy lino shower curtain hides the bath beyond. With the exception of the waiter (no Manuel) the staff process rather than engage with customers.
If you're needing to keep up to date with the outside world, the WiFi is underpowered and the TV remote is like being in the 80s (pic).
Next time, I'd prefer to get up an hour earlier and have to drive in from an alternative hotel.
