What People are saying
Greedy
Bristolrestspecon 25/09/2017 15:56Unfortunately I have been given no option to write this review. My partner and I are travelling through Italy and did a last minute booking at 6pm on Sunday evening after arriving in Pisa and travelling around Tuscany. I then realised the hotel was nowhere near us in fact 1.5 hours away in the wrong direction for the remainder of our trip. At 6.15pm I emailed the hotel to say I was very sorry but could they not charge the card, I was aware there was a zero cancellation policy. I had no response. I emailed twice plus contacted through booking.com and contacted booking.com to contact the hotel and they decided to charge the card.
I appreciate business is business, however we have learnt since none of the facilities are available - restaurant, swimming pool due to being out of season and a 15 minute cancellation isnt damaging to a business. Its an obvious mistake. If I had booked this property in the height of the season and cancelled last minute where they were unable to resell the room I would understand the charge. However this isn't/wasn't the case.
We are all human, we all make mistakes and mostly people acknowledge this and offer a refund as a goodwill gesture.
Maybe booking.com and hotels should have a cooling off period for these mistakes. Im sure we arent the only ones who have been caught out by this!
Nice respite
captdevon 12/09/2017 13:49Nice quiet location in mountains above the Med. Stayed while hiking along appenino mountains with group. Very nice staff and accommodations are clean and up dated. Great hot water for shower. Enjoyed breakfast.
Great location, poor service.
poweson 28/06/2017 11:02Just back from a stay at Rossolla Reaort - Complex is situated around 30 mins from nearest town, up meandering highway for majority, however the last 10 mins is the worst highway you are likely to witness. Completely broken up, uneven and unstable with no signage or barriers to stop you if you veer off track (hard to capture the extremity without visual aid) - it is essential that you have a vehicle to access this hotel, which is not stated when booking of in any of the 'important info' - on the website, they state only that the entrance road is not paved - no mention of needing a vehicle. Personally I don't check reviews much as they tend to reflect on personal experience rather than fact (ironic I know!) So I hadn't seen the comments about the track left by others.
We were advised to travel to Bonnassola to reach hotel so as we arrive at train station we find out the area isn't serviced by taxi's - can only be booked in nearby town. Subsequent cab ride amounted to 40€. Arrive at resort, looks great, however we were just taken to room and given key with no info provided whatsoever. Had to go and find someone for basic info later on as we expected someone who could speak English to follow with info for us. Ask about transport - they say you need car. Enquire about taxis - 50€ a day upwards to get to town in morning and return in evening.
We end up hiring moped - very dangerous on the road on a car alone, worse on scooter, meaning essential we are back before dark each evening. 1st and 2nd night of leaving resort and we return before dark (pre 9pm) to no bar open, no reception open - everything closed up with only a phone number on the door for 'emergencies' - no use when majority of guests cannot get service here on foreign networks. No access to drinking water or anything other than what you have in your room - Not great considering the nearest store is 25 minutes away.
We challenged the owners politely - we were shouted at, laughed at, told 'speak to booking agent' and were left stood alone in reception after they stormed off.
They then argued the website stated car is essential - I showed the site did not state this - they said 'not their fault' and showed us the Italian site which said the same - when they realised, again stormed off saying 'this is my house - I am not dealing with this, phone booking agent'
Which we did, receptionist gave her version of events first, laughing and joking - agent said they knew of complaints but couldn't do anything. Hotel then presented us with bill 'to leave now' which we never asked for.
If the premises offered more service of an evening, more than one choice for each meal etc, then we wouldn't of had much of an issue - but due to this place being run like a family home with some paying guests you spend the majority of your stay outside of the complex, which seems to suit the owners quite well. Wouldn't recommend for those wanting to explore area as its so far out of the way, you may as well stay in some of the lovely hotels in nearby town that offer more services and value for money with comparable views and surroundings.
Short Weekend Away
Kris von 17/07/2016 22:37A gem in the mountains with really friendly staff and excellent facilities.
The gravel road is not at all a problem and is completely worth it.
My Son who is 11 months is a very active little guy and during breakfast the staff had no problem with him under their feet and even entertained him at times.
The beaches are only between 10 to 15 min away depending on where you go.
There is a mountain bike downhill track just outside of the property which offered a great little 3km walk in the mountains.
On arrival you are very well informed of the set up at the resort regarding breakfast and dinner. Additionally there is a fair amount of information available about the area.
Only on problem we had was that our reservation was WAY too short and wished we had stayed at least 4 days.
We will defiantly be back.
A hidden gem
Bevelzebubon 14/07/2016 09:38If you really want to get away from it all this is the place! It really is off the beaten track. Tranquil with the only sounds being the pool and the wildlife around. Room superb but food only average
