Ideal location for travelling around the island.

Great sized rooms, clean and spacious. Friendly staff and reasonable selection of food.
We stayed at this hotel for a week and used it as a family base for setting off on day trips - such as using the Hop On, Hop Off buses around the island, ferry to Valletta, boat trip to Gozo and Comino and relaxing on the roof top area at the end of the day. The pool and roof top area are only open until 7pm - we would have preferred a little later to enjoy the evening sunshine before having our evening meal, but they were not chasing us at 7pm on the dot, so it wasn't too much of a problem. It was just a 5 min walk to the seafront where almost all the tours around the island set off from. In addition, Sliema has one of the major shopping centres on the island - Tigne Point is close to the hotel with an indoor centre spread over 4 floors and a good selection of well known shops. The seafront also has M&S, Matalan, Dorothy Perkins and Burtons, Pandora, Mothercare and varous other well known names, as well as a good selection of food outlets ranging from Burger King, McDonald;s, Pizza Hut and Subway to some decent fish, italian and other kinds of restaurants.
After reading some of the earlier reviews regarding the beds and cleanliness, I was a little worried before we arrived, but we were pleasantly surprised. The cleaning staff were in the room on one of the days when we called in during the day and the floor throughout the apartment was being mopped - we felt guilty having to walk across the wet floor to collect our things! Clean towels were provided as required and we also borrowed additional pool towels from Reception to use at the roof top swimming pool.
Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was fine. There was a choice of the usual cereals, yoghurt, good selection of bread, some fresh fruit - some of it was tinned rather than freshly chopped, but we didn't mind that, cold meats and cheese, jam, peanut butter, fruit juices, tea and coffee. In addition, the hot selection varied slightly each day - there was always bacon and either chicken or pork sausages, plus grilled fresh tomatoes and scrambled eggs. Most days there was also baked beans. There was also a second type of egg each day - either fried, boiled, omelette or a kind of spanish omelette. Finally, there was a small selection of cakes if you wanted something sweet. We had no problem finding sufficient food to fill up at breakfast time.
We had paid for the half board option for our evening meal, which was served from 6.30pm to 9.30pm each evening. Tony, who was on duty most of the nights we were there, was very helpful and friendly. We didn't have to book a specific time to call in each evening - Tony said just to come along when we were hungry. There was a set menu to choose from for the half board, which was slightly more restrictive than the main menu if we had wanted to pay separately each evening, but still a reasonable selection and good value considering the price we had paid to add on the half board option to our booking. There was a range of about 8 starters, main courses of pizza, pasta or about another 8 options - such as grilled chicken breast, swordfish steaks, slow cooked pork casserole, gammon, beef or chicken burger all served with chips or potatoes, salad or vegetables. Portion sizes were generally quite good. The dessert choice was date slice (Maltese speciality), ice cream, fresh fruit salad and usually one other option - either cake, apple pie or something similar. We were there for a week and, by the end of it, I was starting to feel like I had exhausted all the items on the menu that I particularly liked, so if I had been staying for a longer period I would probably have headed out onto Sliema seafront some evenings to try out some of the large variety of restaurants available there, just to have something different for a change, but there was nothing wrong with the actual food or service. On the first day we arrived, we had an evening flight so were going to miss our evening meal. I had pre-arranged with the hotel to leave us each a cold platter in our room ready for our arrival and we were pleasantly surprise by the selection which was left in our fridge ready for our late arrival. There was a large plate for each of with a bread bun, plus cold meats and cheese, salad, couscous, rice balls and other items with some fruit to finish. It was certainly enough to keep us going until breakfast the next day.
There are two lifts, each leading to two separate blocks with four rooms each on each floor. Both come out onto the roof top area. The front rooms, which look out onto the narrow street where the hotel is located are L shaped rooms with a diniing area, lounge area (which doubles as a second bedroom for the children, main bedroom and bathroom. There is a window for both the bedroom and bathroom allowing some daylight and fresh air, but these just look out onto other bedroom and bathroom windows forming a sort of tunnel down the middle of the building. The rooms at the back of the hotel are long and straight - some of these on the upper floors will have some view of Sliema Bay, but there is building work going ahead on the seafront which may restrict this view in time. The roof top area does allow a view of part of Sliema Bay, but is mainly looking out across other roof tops and towards other buildings. It was still a pleasant area to sit out in the sunshine. Over the summer months - I believe from 21st June onwards - the roof top bar is open during the day. It was not open when we were there. The rooms are air conditioned - but this will only switch on if you make sure all the windows are properly closed as there are sensors on the windows. There is also a full size fridge freezer, kettle, microwave and toaster in the room. I was disappointed to find only two of each item of crockery and cutlery - when rooms can be made available for up to 4 people, it would have seemed sensible to provide four sets of cutlery etc! On our first evening with the cold platters, we had to share the cutlery between us, which was a bit frustrating!
Free Wi-Fi in the room with a decent signal.
Overall though, a great base for a touring holiday on Malta and a place I would definitely use again in the future.
Friendly staff and big rooms

First time visiting Malta and the location is great for couples or travellers not interested in the party scene. For us a location near St Julians would have been better. However close to Valetta Ferry, shopping mall and some Nice restaurants. Best of all close to Nice bathing area overlooking Valetta.
Very friendly and helpfull staff. Much appreciated. However for us the location was not the best.
Our Fridge did not work but we got compensated with breakfast vouchers - once again great serviceminded staff!
Good accommodation, ideal location

Nicely located just one street back from the front at Sliema, very handy for the ferry to Valletta, boats trips and buses.
our room was very spacious and clean. for the money we paid the accommodation was decent without being luxurious.
breakfast was decent, an OK choice between some cooked options and cold cuts, fruit, cereal, etc.
we stayed in May 2017 and the building directly opposite was having some major renovation work done. this started early in the morning and went on until 5pm. the noise was quite loud and from the rooftop pool we got a great view of the work! it wasnt enough to spoil our stay, but if you're thinking of going in the next few weeks it may be worth keeping this in mind.
otherwise a good stay without being spectacular, and good value for money.
Happy to recommend this hotel

We enjoyed our stay. The location of Rocca Nettuno Suites is close to the ferries and bus stops and is situated in a quiet street close to 2 shopping areas. Our rooms were clean and spacious, and we appreciated the fridge freezer and microwave. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and were happy to print our boarding passes for our return flight. Breakfast was filling and there was both "continental" and "full English" available.
The brown furniture in our rooms wasn't to my taste, but the suite was spacious, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, there was plenty of hot water for a bath or shower - what more could you want? I am happy to recommend this hotel to others.
everything OK
