Great hotel on the lake

Upon arrival Carlos handles our check in in a very friendly and efficient manner. Our room had a partial view of the lake and had everything we needed for a 5 night stay. Whilst we didn't attend the wine and cheese evening on the Friday we did attend the complimentary breakfast on Saturday where the staff were very friendly and as a bonus they were showing the English premier league matches! The resort caters for pretty much everybody and even though we didn't partake in many activities there was always something to do onsite including lakeside cruises and bus tours. Room facilities were exceptional and included a dishwasher and microwave. There was even BBQ tools so we could make use of the onsite BBQs which are positioned down by the lake so we could enjoy a beer and the sunset whilst cooking dinners. The lodge is probably a 10-15 minute walk to the village centre but this was never a concern. Would recommend this to anyone planning a trip to Big Bear and we hope to return at some point in the future to compete some more hikes in the incredible surrounding area. Lou and Ali, UK.

Disappointed in facilities and service

Laursixfour on 23/08/2017 20:01

I am so sad to write this review! Last year, my family and I stayed at Lagonita Lodge and had a wonderful time. This year, our experience couldn't have been more different. I have reached out to the management with everything in this review and have gotten no response, which to me is the worst part of the whole experience. I am left to conclude that they have no desire to improve or address the concerns of a frustrated guest.

We had booked a week at the lodge, but left after two nights as we were unable to sleep in our unit. Each morning, we requested that we be moved to a quieter, cooler unit, and were told that we would be moved "when they could", but we were given no timeframe and no guarantees. The staff at the front desk was very nice, but instead of bringing a manager in to help, they simply gave me the manager's business card. I emailed the manager over a week ago, and never heard back. In the meantime, we have lost all of the money we paid for the week.

The main issues were:
- The room was extremely loud, and we were unable to sleep.
o Our room was on the parking lot.
o Because of the heat, we had to sleep with the windows open which was not enough to get good airflow, and the parking lot noise was very loud. There is no A/C.
 car alarms went off during the night (both nights!) and woke us all up.
o There was very little insulation in the walls and ceiling, and we could hear every noise made by our neighbors.
- The kitchen was small and non-functional.
o The sink was difficult to work.
o Most of the items we needed to use were stored above the stove; I came close to burning myself several times when reaching for items.
- The windows and doors are not in good condition and were difficult to open.
- Multiple items needed to be repaired when we checked in. Facilities was very good and sent someone quickly, but as handy as he was, there was only so much he could do to fix the run-down fixtures.

I should mention that the common facilities are nice, and there is a well-maintained indoor pool. The property is lakeside - which was beautiful last year, but this year, they have allowed the shoreline to become covered in weeds, making it nearly inaccessible.

Unfortunately, the whole place feels in need of TLC. They need to improve their care both of the facilities and of their customers.

We LOVE Lagonita Lodge

48thAnniversary on 29/06/2017 07:06

This older Lodge is located right on beautiful Big Bear Lake. There are around 100 units with most having a water view. The Lodge is well kept, staff is friendly and very helpful. They have 1-3 bedroom units that are owned, rented, and for resale. The Lodge has an indoor pool, spa, rec room and an adult library/card room, a small four piece gym, and outdoor spa. They offer boats and seadoos to those staying at the Lodge for a reasonable rate. The marina offers around eighteen boat slips as well. There is a play area for children that is lakefront and horseshoes nearby. They offer daily activities such as continental breakfasts, ice cream socials, lake cruises, bunco, bingo, cards, etc. They offer at least two areas to BarBQ with one area by a large deck that is lakefront with several tables to enjoy a meal watching the boats go by. We LOVE it here and have been owner's for ten years making some wonderful memories with family and friends!!!

Grannny surprise

First of all let me start with the positives. This is a time share and most of the people staying there are owners. That being said, many were very friendly, helpful and family oriented. I went there with my 7 year old grandson who had never been to the mountains. The lodge has many activities on site that you can participate in, some for a nominal fee. There is a game room , indoor pool, spa and workout room. The lodge is right on the lake so you can walk out and fish or ?? //they also have equipment, kayaks, pontoon boats, jet skis, etc. that you can rent for a reasonable price. THE LOCATION IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable but dated. The building does show some ware, especially the steps. the bathroom caulking needs to be repaired. (the negatives) The best part was my grandson made friends with two other boys and constantly made plans to do things together. We all went to a museum together and then out to lunch. Staff, and time share owners were very friendly, knowledge and helpful. This made for an absolutely amazing time for my grandson and he wants to go back. If you are looking for upscale, elegant and mint condition this is not the place for you. If you are looking for relaxing, fun with or without others you will find it here. If the place was fully repaired I would give it 5 stars. It is definitely a place we will return to. Yes, it is close to village, you can probably walk it.
