We came to Ambleside for the arrival of Santa and the switching on of the lights. We stayed at Lakes Lodge and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is of a high standard and they do on scrimp on second rate cereals or condiments. The village is 1 min walk away. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Definitely recommend

We booked this quite last-minute as we were visiting the area and decided to make a night of it. We found this for a great price and were attracted by the fantastic location, with it being so close to Ambleside centre.
The parking was a little tight, but was a great feature. The service was friendly, and the room was ample with loads of room. Good scening views, and the communal ice machine was handy when chilling some Champagne we'd brought with us. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great the next morning.
The only criticism we had was the breakfast really. We love buffet style, but with only a certain number of guests, we felt it was a little small, and there was a wait for a lot of hot items that weren't available when we sat down. It wasn't the end of the world, but it did make a difference. On the plus side, the staff were accommodating and helped us when we asked for stuff that wasn't out (A Croissant, for example). It didn't ruin the stay by any means, it just felt like a small feature that could have been easily fixed.
If we came back to Ambleside, I wouldn't hesitate staying here. For the price it was excellent, and the location was simply brilliant.

We stayed here for 1 night, we had a ground floor room which was through a separate entrance to the main hotel which had 4 rooms inside. The main hotel door is locked after 9pm, you could access the hotel if needed to, the receptionist gave us the code for a key box which is next to the main door. this was if you needed any glasses, ice bucket etc. (Ice machine is on the first floor). Our room was a superior double, it was spacious, clean and very nice. The room had a T.V, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, shower gel, shampoo, tissues. The room had temperature controlled heating and also under floor heating. The breakfast was self service, it was really nice, the only downside was that we had to wait for some of the hot items to be refilled. The hotel is ideally situated close to the centre which was great and had free parking if spaces available. The staff were all really helpful and nice.

Room was very spacious, clean & modern. Disappointed with breakfast as very little cooked breakfast available. Had to help myself to some & partner had to wait then until more put out. That is my only criticism. Staff are lovely & very helpful. Not sure if I would stay again though.

A very friendly and welcoming little hotel, stayed here for 2 nights, very relaxing, only a few steps away from great bars and everything that Ambleside has to offer. Breakfast was fabulous, a good selection of everything. Room very comfortable, could have easily stayed a few more nights. Thank you and we will be back!
