We paid 112,5$/ night for a room for 4. The location was great. 3-4 minutes walk to the beach, the beach volley fields, the pier and the promenade while you could also walk to the financial centre with shops, restaurants, bars and other services in 8-10 minutes.
Upon our arrival, the service was nice, the rooms clean and the parking free. The lodge has seen its best days but other than that no problems. Also, their pool isn't the finest one but it was clean during our stay and there were 4-5 deck chairs.
All in all, an ok stay for a group of friends.

My family and I decided if this place was a reasonable price we'd stay and for $105ish we got a room on the second level.
Check in was easy and to the point, considering I think we woke the deskman up. The parking was plentiful for a summer Thursday and the lot well lit with no one hanging out.
Our room was near the stairs so I didn't check if there was an elevator available. It was pretty clean and smelled fresh. It was very basic but had a mini fridge and microwave. The AC didn't work but we made due and it was chilly that night. No fancy soaps or shampoos but it had a balcony with a bit of a view. This was all walking distance (maybe a block) to the fun and action of Santa Cruz. Our beds were clean and comfy considering the place as a whole was a bit dated and in need of a proper update.
Traffic is heard loud and clear here first thing in the morning but I'd have to say that was the only real negative.
We weren't sure if we wanted to stay another night and inquired about pricing. About 4 hours later we got a call from the desk clerk explaining she was down to two rooms if we were going to return she'd reserve. I thought that was the kindest gesture! We declined since we wanted to keep schedule but for that extraordinary service we'd definitely return for a simple and clean nights rest.

Great location, views of the ocean, short walk from the boardwalk/pier. However, very old and rundown room, broken TV, gross bathroom, dirty and uncomfortable overall. I would not stay here again and I would not recommend it.

the room on the first floor my wife and mother-in-law and myself were in was a little disappointing. The sliding door to the balcony would not close all the way and looked like it had been possibly broken into by all the markings on the area of the lock, the bathtub did not have a stopper, the cord for the floor lamp had a wire nut and electrical tape on it ( not too safe), the carpet around the bed wasn't vacuumed recently but the bed was comfortable, but the fridge and micro did work OK. The person who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful with any questions ( although I did not approach him about all the problems in the room). the room did have a very partial ocean view but you could hear any movement on the second floor.

We spent a week in Santa Cruz staying at the Lanai Lodge. We took our daughters on a two week long road trip and ended up in Santa Cruz. We booked our room right when we got in town and checked in 10 minutes later. We originally booked it for 2 nights, but after staying one night we love it so much we decided to stay a week. Although it isn't as fancy as other hotels, it was well worth the money. $74 a night for 2 queen beds and a balcony where you can see the ocean. The pool was open and clean. My girls loved it! We kept our do not disturb sign on the door most the time since we didnt feel it necessary for them to clean up after us, but they still made sure we had fresh towels and toilet paper every day. Coffee was ready to go every morning and 8. They were also very helpful with letting us know about good places to go. We already have a trip planned for this summer! This is a great little motel for families on a budget. The beach is only a couple minute walk away and then the boardwalk.
