In general everything was excellent. The service, the staff and the facilities, are the best of Cartagena. Although the beach is not free of street vendors, it is bearable. I went with my wife and my 9 month old baby, and the staff was very attentive to the needs of the parents with babies. The negative point of our visit was that our hotel was used as a place for sexual tourism. No hotel should allow this practice but even less a family hotel of this category.
This was the situation. The rooms have a door that communicates with the next room and one night our room neighbor arrived at 2:00 am to play loud music while his companion shouted and laughed very loud. The next morning they arrived at 3: 00am again with the same party, we called the reception to asked that he lowered the music volume and the tone of voice; That same day at 10:00 pm we met a very young girl (IMO) at the corridor, who was looking for a room with paper in hand and asking for directions, with such bad luck that she was going to the room next to us. As soon as the music was turned on we called back to the reception and again went next door to ask him to lower the music and the noise. The girl came out faster than the previous ones. The most annoying thing is that when we went to the reception to discuss the issue, the clerk told us that they could change our room. I do not understand why if we were the ones who were asking for calm and silence for our baby's dream, we had to be the ones bothered changing rooms when we were fully installed and we had already half a week in peace in this room.

Very good beach hotel in Cartagena. Excellent facilities for kids and quality food in all of the restaurants. The beach is not the best because of the vendors but much better than those in the city. A 10 minute taxi ride to the walled city and very close to the airport.

We were a very large group. Hotel Casa de Playa facilities and their staff were a perfect match for our large group and everyone's needs. We will do this again and will come back to this hotel. Also, Great location - A short taxi ride away from City Center

Beach--side balcony rooms are great! Be sure your next-door roommates are more quiet than mine! Otherwise, great views, lovely room and prompt service. I was delighted! Need price schedule for mini-bar. One English-language news channel would be nice, e.g., CNN. First-rate, responsive staff throughout all hotel venues.

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding in Cartagena so we were a large group of both Colombians and Americans. When we arrived we were given a room in the "beach house" accommodations. The first thing we noticed was the hammock was broken and only had the rope hanging. Not a big deal. The view consisted of palm trees and the pool. No ocean view.The room had a door that connected to the next room that did not appear to have much insulation as we could hear every word the neighbors said. Once we realized the entire wedding party was staying in the "newer" part of the hotel, we asked to switch rooms. We booked our flight and hotel through Jet Blue and did not realize we were not with the rest of the group. The hotel had no problem moving us to the same floor as everyone else and we just paid the nightly difference. We were very happy with the move. We got room 626 that had a nice beach and ocean view.
The room itself had two beds, mini bar that came stocked with drinks and snacks (extra charge) and a walk in shower. I will say that the first night we all took cold showers until we figured out that red does not mean hot and that for hot water you had to turn the nozzle to blue. After that we had no issues. Most of the channels are in Spanish but some do have the option of English as well. We never had a problem with our air like I've read in other reviews.
Our room rate came with breakfast buffet included. It is an open air buffet, so if you leave your plate un-attended a bird will make off with something. There are iguanas that come out of the trees to snack as well. We were lucky enough to see the green parrot Lorenzo that will sometimes make an appearance. He eats what he wants and if you try to offer him something else, he does get crabby. It is hot and humid in Cartagena. We live in Florida and it was many times worse than any day here. If you have curly hair like me, it will resemble a birds nest no matter how much product you put in it. There was another restaurant on site that is inside but we only ate at the open air and at the adults only pool bar upstairs. The burgers were very good as were the mojitos.
The security around the hotel is very good and never once did we feel unsafe. If you wanted to walk out on the beach, you had to give your room number to the guard. If you have been to other beaches, you will likely be unimpressed with the beaches here. The sand resembles dirt. We did walk out there a couple of times, but found that we would rather stay at the pool on the 10th floor. There are also guards when you pull onto the hotels property that require your room number for verification. There is a lot of construction going on in front of the hotel that does not seem to have anything to do with the hotel. Since our room was on the backside of the hotel, we never experienced any noise with it. Not sure about the rooms that faced the road.
The airport and historic downtown were only about 15 mins from the hotel. Easy to grab a cab and they ran about $15,000 pesos one way.
A word of advice....if your a salad eater, we did have the dinner buffet one night which was very good. The salad bar had a great selection however the dressing is different than what you might find in the US. It wasn't bad, but if your preference is Ranch, then you may want to bring a bottle with you. I made do because the salad itself was so good but it would have been much better with my favorite dressing. Also the same for pancake waffle syrup. The pancakes were very good, but there isn't any Log Cabin here. Again, if you are traditional these are just a couple of tips. It certainly didn't stop me from eating the salad or the pancakes.
Overall our stay here was very pleasant. The staff was friendly and the hotel and rooms were clean. The food and drinks were all very good and the variety of pools never gave the hotel an over crowded feel.
