Unique hotel in historic area of Seville

We chose this hotel because of its unique layout and it's location in the centre of Seville. Rather than being arranged as rooms in a block, the hotel has a set of rooms arranged around courtyards with a lengthy but interesting walk to the reception. The Reading room is fascinating with tiles all around. You feel you could be in North Africa. Two areas for improvement. The standard double bed is narrow and high up. Go for two singles of you feel you may fall out. The other is the lack of decent enough wifi in rooms. You have to wander down to courtyards to get a decent signal. Other than this, highly recommended.

The good: The entire complex was very interesting, a number of gardens can be found to sit and relax, many water features. We were whizzed through the tunnel and walk ways to our room which was located outside the main complex. When we arrived. I would compare it to a combination of museum, and a large archaeological site.Very conservative reading rooms, piano bar, many old paintings on display. It took us a few days to find our way around the hotel. The housekeepers were pleasant and we had no issues with their housekeeping services.
The hotel is very unusual, keep in mind it is an old hotel, and conservative.(Jacket and trouser worn by many guests sitting in the lounge and piano bar area's
The bad: We ate breakfast elsewhere, due to the high price of the hotel breakfast.
We complained about the bad drain smell in the bathroom, they did put down chemicals to reduce the smell, it did help, although there is a damp smell, that can't be removed. there is a plumbing issue in this location, one can hear toilets being flushed next door, noisy guest when walking about on the upper levels and the external stairs.
The doors to the bathroom and toilet did not close properly. They have a restaurant and Tapas bar located next to the lounge and reception, I never saw anyone use it.
Plenty of places nearby to have a nice Spanish breakfast.
The rooms are OK, not great with no natural light.
It is worth a visit, but keep in mind, that you need to be able to access the stairs, as the lifts do not take you to all levels.
Generally staff do not have enough knowledge about Seville, when we asked about the fish market we were told it only opened on a Thursday, in fact it opens every day.
We were given a map on arrivel, they circled with a pen where the hotel is located.
And we were informed to ask the next day, if we needed more information. We didn't bother.
I generally do not look for issues to raise or complain about. We normally left by the small reception and hardly used the main reception, so I do not wish to say anything negative/positive about the staff. They were helpful when asked something, not sure about their city knowledge.

Las casas de la judería is a unique hotel in every way . Anyone can visit a modern hotel but only a few of the uniqueness in the world like this hotel . The hotel staff are uniquely friendly also . Very helpful in every way .
A few things to note . We got an upgraded room but frankly s normal room would have been better as it had 2 beds . We prefer 1 bigger bed so do not ask for an upgrade . They park the car for you in a nearby car park which again is s great service but it does cost €24 extra so must be added to room price . Location is very good with the Giralda 5 minutes ; lots of restaurants and bars and walking distance to many sites ( including tour bus ). Hi
Quirky and cool but has somebissues

We stayed here for a week and basically enjoyed our stay but there are definitely some caveats to this hotel. We arrived midday from Madrid and found the reception area crowded so information we needed was given in a very rushed fashion. A rather unfriendly man then took us through what seemed to be a never ending tunnel to our room. I found the trip to the room confusing, depressing, and claustrophobic.
It only got worse. He left us in a dark, moldy smelling room that I immediately knew I could not stay in. I felt like I was in a damp basement although I believe the room was on the ground floor. As soon as the man left, my husband and I agreed that we were not staying there one night, let alone a week.
We went to the little reception area near our room and discovered that the very friendly receptionist there seemed to agree that of course we would want another room (strange). She offered to show us other rooms available and we found one to our liking on the top floor of an annex. The room had natural light, was spacious enough, and had a very nice, albeit rather crowded, bathroom. We were moved immediately to the new room and enjoyed our week there quite a bit. We later realized that by taking this rather isolated, upper room we had one of the few rooms with good internet.
On the positive side, the housekeeping service was excellent and the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Many parts of the hotel are gorgeous and it’s quite fun to explore. The outside areas around the pool are also beautiful. On the negative side, the rooms are quite dark, our elevator had problems for several days (the door wouldn’t open when we got to our floor), and the young man working at night at our reception area wasn’t particularly helpful or friendly.
We did not choose the breakfast option and I would definitely say not to. There are plenty of good places to eat for much less within a block of the hotel. Would I stay here again? Probably not but I’d recommend giving it a try. Just remain firm if you’re given one of the lousy rooms. You’ll recognize them right away.

Since there are several old houses conected together you can never find your way to you room or worse to get out of the hotel. There are no signs what so ever.
To save space the breakfast is seved in the basement no windows no light
