Dated but still a classic
Jose Kon 21/03/2017 22:28We stayed in "the tower" - a very small, dated room. Small everything: bed, closet, bathroom. Shower was better than expected. I understand there are rooms that have been renovated, but I didn´t have such luck!
Service is very good, efficient, courteous. Breakfast is very good. Food at the pool bar is good. Afternoon waffles are a Punta tradition.
We hired the masseuse Irma who was terrific.
Concert and dinner - gorgeous evening

We were then seated on the patio, air scented with eucalyptus and pine... and listened to a quartet pay Mozart under the stars. A pianist joined in for the final recital. Champagne after the concert in the garden. Dinner followed in a lovely dining room where you could see your food. I had carpaccio, salmon with passion fruit sauce and chocolate tart with raspberries. My husband had Caprese salad, risotto and something that looked decadently chocolate. It does not get any nicer then this.
Beautiful grounds, but check your room
hareparklaneon 22/01/2017 18:14We stayed here for the first time in January for three days and were enchanted by the hotel, eventually. The grounds are absolutely lovely, with a large pool and green areas in which to lounge. And the grounds are made for lounging. The building is styled in the manner of an English country house, with a landmark tower as a folly, and is delight to look at.
One of the most appreciated things was that breakfast is served until noon, allowing us to work up an appetite.
The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the Atlantic beach but about 10 minutes drive from the centre of Punta del Este.
The initial reception would be best described as indifferent, but I think that was an aberration and for the rest of the stay the service was first class.
I would advise anyone who has not stayed here before to check thoroughly the room you are booking. We initially reserved a "classic sea view room". These are all in the tower and are very small, not really five star accommodation for one, let alone having enough room for a couple. I complained and the hotel moved us to a lovely room overlooking the garden, for a slightly higher price. The gesture was highly appreciated and really made our stay memorable.
A true gem
Fabio Kon 02/11/2016 02:41I stayed at this property for a number of years. When I didn't stay there due to capacity I made sure to go and enjoy one of their memorable tea time delicacies. Waffles are out of this world and the property reminds its visitors of a kinder, smaller, lore detailed oriented time in our lives.
So romantic and cozy!
Sandra Mon 13/09/2016 16:22We went there to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary, and our time there overcame our expectations! My parents stay at L'Auberge yearly, so we always heard really positive things about it. The room is romantic, staff is amazing, it's beautifuly decorated, calm and cozy! The restaurant serves high quality food, and don't forget to taste the famous waffles! Oh, and the breakfast is also delicious! The only problem we had was... We spent more time at the hotel than driving around Punta, because we felt home once we were there!
We're definitely coming back soon!
