Good enough

We stayed or 2 nights , the hotel is slightly off the beaten track but nevertheless it's easy enough to get in to the center , about a 3 km walk along the sea front or a 5 minute bus ride into piazza Ferrari. The hotel is presented in a combination of Italianate villa and 1970s decor , the room was standard size for a city hotel clean but very old fashioned - hard to believe that all of the hotel was renovated less than ten years ago as claimed on their web site .The bathroom was also smallish particularly the shower I could hardly turn around without touching the taps and changing the water temperature,. Breakfast is provided and is standard fare not great not terrible. There is free permit parking on the street over a four street area close to the hotel . Finallly the reception staff are very friendly and helpful. All in all a reasonable hotel for the price
Ebullient kitsch in a hotel setting...

This is a lovely three-star hotel, with a graceful and energetic staff and decor so outrageously kitsch it is impossible not to be amused by it (especially the golf clubs by the lift). We were met by the enthusiastic reception as we were parking, and she was a source of good advice about the local area and restaurants, especially helpful given our short stay. The room, whilst extending the kitsch theme with an impossibly ridiculous Marie-Therese chandelier, was light and airy, with a massively high ceiling and possibly the most enormous bed in which we have ever slept. Breakfast was very good considering what passes for this in Italy, and the whole staff were unendingly courteous and seemed delighted to see us. They really enjoy their work and this was quite a contrast to some other recent stays. This is a great hotel, and good value for its location and class, with charm to burn. Worth revisitng, as we will defintely do when next in Genoa.
Great for a short stay in Genoa

We really enjoyed our one night stay here. The decor of the hotel is very dated but the rooms were a good size with big comfortable beds. The bathroom was also a good size but the shower itself was small. It's in a great location a short walk from the promenade and beaches and a good selection of restaurants. The lady on reception was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was ok. While normally wi-fi would cost 10 euro for 7 days, we had free wi-fi included in with the booking we made through one of the many accommodation websites.
Fine hotel to stay for a short time

This hotel is quite OK for a short stay. The reception closes before mid-night and it seems the door from inside is locked. At least this is the impression I got when I went down after mid-night to ask a question at the reception and there was nobody and it was not clear how one could go out of the hotel as the main door was locked. I wonder what would happen in case or fire, etc.
The hotel so-called parking seems to be just one or maximum two places right in front of the hotel entrance. It is nearly impossible to find parking in the street and if you do, you have to pay for it.
Expensive and not really worth it

The hotel Laurens is situated on the Corso Itlia, a beautiful and long walk by the sea. It is five minutes walk from Boccadasse, one of the city landmarks. A quirky collection of antiques makes for interesting discussions. Unfortunately the hotel, renovated in the seventies, has had nothing done to it ever since, or at least this is what one can surmise from what one can see.
It would be greatly improved if the carpet in the rooms were removed and a leak of paint. Also the breakfast is pretty poor although adequate. Wifi is not up to international standards.
