What People are saying

Great Location and Spa

NBCTeacher on 05/11/2017 20:44

I stayed at La Calendal for four nights with a group tour. It’s location is excellent - right in the heart of Arles. I enjoyed the steam room and whirlpool in the spa. It was very calming and you can also have tea, a shower, and a massage.
I wish I had taken pictures of Rooms 15 and 14 because they are nothing like the rooms pictured on TripAdvisor. For the first night, I was in Room 15 which was large but it had no Provençal feeling, fabrics, or decor. After that night, I asked for a different room and even offered to pay extra. They didn’t seem very pleased about that but they gave me three choices (no extra charge) and I selected Room 14 which did have some color but no Provençal fabrics. Both 15 and 14 were noisy. One couple in our group had a “modern” room! So, be sure you get one of the rooms like the ones pictured here. There seems to be a lot of variation.
The breakfast was basic and exactly the same every day - same croissants, same cheese, same cake, same sausage. We had to eat in a certain area (because we were a group) so we couldn’t eat on the pretty terrace outside.
Great location but request a pretty room.

Wonderful Hotel

Edmonton017 on 28/10/2017 14:22

My wife and I stayed here for five nights in October 2017 as part of a three week trip to Europe. We were visiting from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We spent two days exploring Montepulciano and two days driving through the countryside while based in Arles.

Our experience with the hotel was entirely positive. We parked about two blocks from the hotel (the hotel booked us a spot in a parkade). The cost of parking was 12 euros per day.

We stayed in room 14, which overlooks the back of the hotel and there is occasional noise from garbage trucks, but this was not a significant inconvenience.

The location of the hotel is great. There are about five restaurants within a block of the hotel. There are many more restaurants about three blocks away. The area is very safe, even at night. All sites are within walking distance and the hotel is just steps away from the Roman amphitheatre and theatre.

Our room was comfortably large, as was the bathroom. The shower was comfortably spacious. The room was clean and had a very large window. Beds were very firm, which my wife and I prefer. The air conditioning worked very well.

Buffet breakfasts were excellent. Apple juice was available or you could make your own freshly squeezed orange juice! (My wife did this each day.) There was a wide variety of meats, cheeses, yogurt, etc. You could make your own toast. The coffee machines made the best coffees, hot chocolate, etc. - these machines were the best ones that we saw in Europe.

There was nice courtyard where you could go during the day/early evening for a drink or to relax.

The only negative for us was that wifi did not work in our room and we had to use the common areas on the main floor to access wifi. We did bring this to the attention of the hotel but they were unable to rectify this problem.

The hotel also has a small bar where you can order drinks or light food. When we drove to the countryside, we purchased sandwiches from the bar and took them as picnic lunches - the sandwiches that they have are very tasty and I would highly recommend taking them if you are thinking that you may need to take food while travelling.

I think that the most commendable aspect of the hotel is customer service. Staff at the hotel were extremely professional, courteous and helpful. They would try to resolve any problems at the first opportunity. They made us feel very welcome at the hotel.

I would definitely stay at this hotel if visiting Arles in the future and I would highly recommend it to others.

Charming hotel, incredible location

Stopped here on our week-long bike tour. Very nice to coast right up to the door and have a safe spot to leave the bikes. Welcome couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful.

Great room - not large but with balcony looking out over the front. No problem with street noise for us. Love the size and quaintness. Great bathroom.

Best location In Arles!

You are right next to the famous Roman Arena and Roman theatre.
The staff is so very friendly and helpful and the reservation is so easy to make and a terrific value.
Parking is explained and a value. A must to follow their easy instructions they send. Our room very clean and great view. Even had a veranda... so special! We were so happy, stayed an extra day. Would highly recommend.

Stunning night view of the Arena lit up

Great place to spend the night and look out at the Roman Arena in bold light. Would come back again just for the view. Nice garden patio for a cooler place to drink. The front patio is also another great spot to lookout on the street.
