Comfortable stay

We enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are small, but clean, comfortable, and quiet at night. The location was perfect, just a few minutes walk from all of the town's cafes, restaurants, and thermal spa. A few negatives: the staff wasn't helpful, the wifi does not work well, and the breakfast was average.
Mountain and river views.

We only stayed overnight, on the way to Andorra but almost a full day due to a couple of hiccups with accommodation in Andorra/ Le Chalet is on the edge of the river (so if you don't like the sound of water it's not for you) but we found the situation excellent. Easy on road parking and a five minute walk into town with a good selection of bars and eateries. The hotel had what looked like a good restaurant but we chose to eat out. Good breakfast, friendly staff and clean and comfortable rooms.
Character filled rooms and a nice location but not much more

Our party of 10 was due to arrive early Monday afternoon but everything in this part of France is closed that time on Monday. The hotel did provide a door access code and leave the room keys out for us but with 10 people, they really could have arranged for at least one staff person.
The hotel itself was ok...narrow steps to the upper floors, clean, ok decor. The rooms were quite nice but hadn't really been updated for many years. It was character filled though and we really liked it. No A/C but it happened to be a coolish night so not too bad.
Food was lacklustre...dinner was a fixed menu and tasty but not spectacular. The continental breakfast wasn't nearly as well furnished as we had in every other hotel (7 others) during our visit....more selection required.
Disappointing start retrieved by rest of our stay

This is one of only three hotels we stayed in during this trip that I haven't given full marks to. This hotel would have received full marks were it not for the welcome we received when we arrived. The first thing I will admit to is that our French is almost non existant but this did not cause us any problems during the rest of our trip which made our welcome all the more annoying. Upon arriving at reception my father politely asked the young lady behind the desk if she spoke English. The response was very blunt in the negative right up to the point where my father produced a copy of our reservation at which point her attitude completely changed and she suddenly could speak English. If this is the sort of welcome non French speaking guests without reservations receive it will do nothing to improve the hotels reputation. Fortunately the rest of our stay somewhat retrieved the situation. The food and staff in the restaurant were excellent and the language barrier was no longer an issue. Overall a nice stay but our initial reception left rather sour taste in the mouth.
Still nice but The Help could learn to smlle

I returned to this hotel with my son and daughter recently because it is well situated near the base of the Gondola going to the ski area Ax-3-Domaines. We like the corner room #15 with 3 single beds and a tub and two balconies. The dinner food is very good and the prices are about normal. The buffet breakfast DIY is adequate but nothing special. My two negatives were that the reception desk woman seemed like she'd never been taught to smile -- rather odd in the hospitality trade; and the jacuzzi was not working (a disappointment after skiing all day) and I was not told that when I made my reservation nor was there any apology in money or even just "I'm sorry." This place may be resting too much on its laurels and needs to keep an eye on what makes people come back: friendliness and fairness.
