Travels all month through Italy, Spain and France have taken us to hotels of varying quality - and now sheer sumptuous comfort greeted us at Chambery. Situated a short drive from Chambery ville, we took the meandering path and discovered a royal retreat replete with every essential on our wish list: set amid a natural reserve, chateau vineyard - gracious and roomy boudoir; large bath with ample steamy hot water; upmaket toiletries and robes; free, unabridged wifi, and a chic but well-priced restaurant. Add to our hit-list, emotionally intelligent service, and we felt on top of the world, in the Rhone Alps region of France. The connected La Cantine restaurant is blessed with talented and responsive chefs who whipped up a gourmet variation for my vegatarian palate while my husband devoured a tender fillet that he claims was incomparable for quality. We are already planning our next trip with a much longer stay in this glorious region of France and with Chateau de Candie right on the top of the list.

We took pot luck finding this hotel from the list on my satnav. It was time to stop as the light was fading. We booked from an Autoroute parking area and satnav did the rest.
It is a real gem, they made us feel really welcome and gave us all the assistance we needed. The room was large and beautifully warm on a cold evening.
The restaurant service was excellent and the food was just as good and exactly what we needed.
It made a pleasant day complete.
Breakfast was as expected and again exactly what we wanted.
A very good stay and we will stay again in the near future.

Just back from a one night stay at the chateau, which we thoroughly enjoyed! The room we stayed in was enormous, the bed very comfortable. There were so many lovely Elemis toiletries. We had a delicious dinner and breakfast in the Cantine and we found the staff on reception and in the restaurant very professional and helpful. Thank you!!

Had a lovely large room exceptionally clean and comfortable so much so we booked for an extra night. Elemis toiletries in the bathroom. Very nice receptionists very welcoming. Free tea coffee and cake always available in the lounge. Safe parking. Breakfast was superb. A car ride to the nearest restaurant. We did eat in the hotel restaurant fairly expensive and a bit pretentious we thought so didn't eat there again but I would recommend and stay again it has a very relaxing atmosphere.

The chateau is just outside of Chambery and it feels like it is much more remote than it actually is due to its surrounding park. The property is lovely and the staff are very friendly and professional. The restaurant is exceptional with good service, delicious food, and a great wine list, plus it is well-priced for the quality of food and flavours. The weakness of the place is that some of the woodwork and upholstery needs some work. Do not assume that you will stay in one of the rooms on their website as we certainly didn't get to stay in one as nice, and that disappointment clouded our overall impression of the place. Saying that, we would return for the restaurant - demanding a better room when we reserve.
