We’ve stayed in Amboise many times but found the Clos d’Ambois by accident. It’s very central so you can walk to restaurants, unlike some of the really posh ones, and has secure parking too. The rooms are large and nicely furnished but the building and gardens are the stars. It must be lovely to sit outside with a glass of wine on a summer evening. There are many hotels to choose from in and around Amboise but this really is a hidden gem.

I see from TA that it's been seven years since we were last here, there's been an extension and a change of ownership but the Clos is still a wonderful place to stay either as a base for the Loire or to rest while driving further south (us). On this occasion a spacious room above the former stables, secure parking, a wonderful breakfast and the most pleasant of buildings near the centre of Amboise. We were most courteously greeted on arrival, the fact that our dogs had not registered on the booking being no problem, and the Clos delivered just what we wanted.

Le Clos d'Amboise is beautiful small hotel located in beautiful grounds in central Amboise. The rooms are large, well decorated and equipped and very quiet. The hotel has an excellent classic French Restaurant and the staff are very friendly. The hotel has secure private parking and a private pool although this was closed in late September.

My husband and I stayed here for five nights, using Amboise as a central location for touring castles of the Loire Valley. Le Clos was a welcome, cozy retreat to return to at the end of each sightseeing day. The small courtyard in back has a lovely terrace, where we dined out one evening. The hotel has some comfortable communal living spaces, where we played cards one evening. Cuisine is top-notch French. Service is excellent; their Sommelier knows his valley's vineyards. The breakfasts each morning were sumptuous affairs--with eggs cooked to order, a large buffet of meats and cheeses and several kinds of bread. Our spacious room was on the upper level overlooking the courtyard with several sets of windows. Clean bathroom with separate WC. I recommend Le Clos highly.

I stayed for five nights here while I took a small-group tour of chateaux and vineyards in the Loire Valley of France. Built in the mid-1700s, Le Clos d'Amboise is located a few minutes walk from the historic centre of Amboise. I was welcomed warmly on arrival.
I had a delightful room with a very modern bathroom on the second (top) floor with a comfortable queen bed, a small desk, and a chest of drawers. Also a tiny, well-stocked fridge. Good wifi and plenty of hot water. There is also an elevator. The resto and bar are excellent here and there is a large sheltered garden.
Breakfast is a feast and worth enjoying.
The staff all speak English and are friendly and helpful.
I would recommend this 4 star hotel highly and want to return.
