Visit to Brittany
fladypon 24/04/2016 14:01Quiet location, friendly staff, close to the beach and the coastal path and well away from the coastal strip of hotels in La Baule. The bathroom was well equipped and a good size. There is plenty of car parking at the hotel and on the street outside. As a change from the hotel we found a good family run creperie in the town. There are lots of places to explore in the surrounding area.

Booking fiasco
K Mon 25/11/2015 01:08I am unable to review staying at this hotel as we did not have a successful booking experience and consequently cancelled our Booking.com. reservation. We found this hotel on the Booking.com. website and booked a Double room at the advertised rate. We received 2 emails; one to click to confirm our reservation (which I did) and then a formal booking confirmation from Booking.com. However, within a couple of hours, we received an email directly from Le Marina stating the advertised rate per night was wrong and the room would cost us significantly more. We contacted Booking.com. who rang and spoke to Le Marina and they eventually agreed to honour the original booking rate as it had been confirmed. After Booking.com. advised us that our rate would be honoured, we then received another direct email from Le Marina advising us that they would only try to honour our booking rate and that if our room was booked by someone else when we arrived, they plan to put us in another hotel in St Nazaire (a totally different location and not where we want to stay for a few days). So their guarantee was retracted. As a result, we have cancelled our booking as this arrangement seemed precarious to say the least.
If you make bookings for Le Marina through Booking.com., hopefully our experience will caution you. Even if you have received a confirmation of your reservation, the rate can be changed or you will be given a room in a location you didn't book.
My Favorite Hotel
achren2on 11/08/2014 16:52The standing stones of Brittany have drawn me for decades. Finally, on my trip to see them and other delights of Brittany, I was fortunate to stay at Le Marina in Pornichet.
For ordinary tourists it is excellent, but you should know that if you are old or disabled or both it is the most outstanding hotel you are likely to stay at ever. Whoever designed the facilities from the parking lot to the sleeping arrangements, bathrooms and beyond was a rehabilitation genius. [I should note that before arthritis and age slowed me down I worked in the rehabilitation medicine department of a university hospital for many years.] The staff are knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly, and the breakfasts are a delight. Of all the places I have stayed during many trips to Europe, this is my favorite.
A succesfull second visit
Francoise1947on 12/06/2013 09:50After our February visit, we returned to Le Marina for a couple of nights in June, this time after cycling across Brittany north-south. The refit of the restaurant is now finished and we could enjoy our meals in a stylish and modern environment. Menu du jour (€12.30 for 3-courses) on our first night offered Roast Chicken. It was one of the best chicken I had a chance to sample in a restaurant. Simply roasted, without fancy sauces as is often the case, it tasted "home-cooked" and the portion was generous. The buffet-breakfast was also excellent with lovely hot bread and "viennoiseries" with plenty of choices to prepare us for the long cycling day back to northern Brittany . Both were served in a friendly and hospitable manner. Whenever we travel to this side of Brittany, we shall go back to the Marina.
