Enjoyed our stay at the Hotel le Maxime. Staff was very friendly and helpful, which goes along way towards making for an enjoyable stay. Rooms were clean and nice big bathrooms, typical of retrofitted bathrooms in older hotels. Since it is an older hotel it doesnt have alot of plugs for electronics, just something to be aware of. Parking was convenient, and the breakfast in the morning was nice, though a little pricey compared to what is typical in American hotels.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for two nights from 12th September, check in was so easy with great friendly advice from the front staff.
I must say that the staff are a credit to the hotel always helpful and pleasant.
We had a room on the second floor with a view over the river Yonne, what a lovely room it was, tastefully decorated in keeping with the style of the hotel, the bed was so comfortable.
Breakfast was more than adequate for our appetite with a good choice.
The location was so handy to see the old centre of Auxerre with many very good restaurants near to hand.
I do feel a return visit will be on the cards but a longer stay in this wonderful area.

Decent sized rooms, great breakfast, central location right on the waterfront. Helpful self-parking garage. The staff doesn't speak much English but enough to get by. If you're staying in Auxerre you can't go wrong here.

Stopped here for the last night of our Brexit Tour having stayed here some 5 years ago. Since then I've recommended Lê Máxime to a number of friends.
Good location opposite the river. Paid the €9 extra for covered parking but needn't have bothered as the on street parking is fine.
Our room was on the first floor overlooking the river at the front. Good for the view but a bit noisy at night with occasional traffic and in our case a young lady singing at 3.30am. Had a room at the back last time and it was much quieter.
The rooms are quite compact but comfortable and air conditioned. The mini bar fridge is a bit noisy though.
It's a nice clean hotel with friendly staff. We chose to eat out for both dinner and breakfast as there is much choice nearby.

We had a top floor room looking out over the Yonne river for two nights to visit a nearby champagne festival with another English couple. Of course it was August so most of the other guests were just passing through on the rush to the South and most of the city shops were closed.
However, the reception staff were all friendly and tolerated my poor French, only speaking their excellent English to make sure we had understood each other!
Good recommendation for a late lunch spot when we arrived at 14:45 (check in is not until 15:00) and good value parking in their covered garage at €9 per night.
There were only two issues, both minor, there is a bar nearby "Chez Max" which is quite loud on the Friday/Saturday nights we stayed. Also there is something either in the plumbing or air systems making a random rattling noise intermittently throughout the night, as I say, mild irritants - I still slept perfectly well.
Sadly there was an admin problem that meant our payment had not been properly registered but again the lady on reception was apologetic and took the reference number to deal with this herself rather than expect me to pay twice and sort things out.
