What People are saying

Nice

Pfdime on 20/11/2017 18:57

Although conveniently located, and the lounge area was very pretty, the rooms were very dark and the hallways were painted purple. They never change the water glass - strange that there was only one in the room.

Not the best Hotel I’ve started in

Steve H on 10/11/2017 08:04

This Hotel was booked for me through the client I was working for at the time.
It’s ok but not the best Hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
This is my first time in Nice so I know it’s going to be popular in the summertime and maybe all the Hotels ate like this down here as they can change what they want. But, it’s very expensive for all the extra things you need, like breakfast!! £25 per day !!!
Also the bar closes at 10pm even yes you’ve got, for guests staying here 🙁
Staff are ok they are French so you get what you get when you speak English, know what I mean 😙
Anyway, would I say here again, probably not. Not in the winter anyway, I could have found something better off the sea front if I was booking it.
O yes. Also the Aircon/ heater didn’t work either and one of my colleagues had a rumbling noise all night for the whole week we were here.

Get a sea view room with a balcony!

Mary K on 09/11/2017 22:22

Stayed Sunday - Wednesday in late July. Absolutely wonderful - room was top notch, breakfast great, staff helpful. Rooftop deck and pool are lovely (although the pool is kind of small - don’t expect to get a seat up there :( )

Do get a room with a sea view - totally worth it. We booked a partial sea view/rooftop view through their website, and were upgraded to one of the best rooms in the hotel, on the SW corner, 9th floor, with a balcony with both southern (sea) and western (rooftops) view. I’m guessing this is because my husband has status with SPG, as he travels for business a lot. Even if we had one of the lower floors without the wraparound balcony, the seaview rooms are absolutely worth it. Very nice to sit out and chill and watch the sunset.

Location can’t be beat - very close to lots of shops, restaurants, 10 minute walk to the Old Town. Other than breakfast (which obviously caters to an international business crowd, as there were numerous options available), we didn’t eat in the hotel, so can’t speak to that. We did always cap our day out with drinks at the rooftop bar/restaurant… service was good, wine was surprisingly reasonably priced (order a bottle of the house wine, it’s only on the menu by the glass, but they did serve us a bottle when asked - about 30-35 Euros), and you can’t beat the view.

I can see where some have judged the condition of the hotel by the hallways - does seem weird that they would have just painted over wallpaper or some other covering without filling in the cracks. And based on what others have said, it sounds like parts of the hotel have not yet been refurbished. However, the room we had was perfectly awesome, updated, and very comfortable (except for the bed - definitely standard hard European mattress). Would definitely stay again, and definitely in a room with a sea view!

Tired Run-Down Hotel

scubalovr on 06/11/2017 22:31

We recently spent three nights at Le Meridien in Nice, France. The location can't be beat, but this place needs a lot of TLC to make it great, as I'm sure it once was.

The hallways had stains on the floor, and there were random wet spots in places, as though water had been leaking from the floor above. The view from our room was amazing! However, the door to get out onto the small balcony was partially sprung, so it wouldn't close all the way or latch properly. Had anyone managed to get onto the balcony, they would have easily gotten into the room, and outside air leaked in. Had it rained, I'm sure water would have gotten onto the floor.

The shower and entire bathroom were in need of being updated. The tub was quite run down. There was very little drawer or hanger space for us to unpack and get organized.

The housekeeping service was not very good either. Our first day, we spent the morning and the first part of the afternoon sightseeing. We had an evening trip to Monaco planned and went back to shower and change around 3 pm. The room still had not been cleaned. We had to ask for fresh towels and tell them that we didn't want the room cleaned.

I want to stress again that the location is lovely, and this alone makes up for some of the shortcomings of this property. We were right across the street from the Mediterranean and a couple of blocks from great restaurants in the Old Town area. We were within easy walking distance of fantastic shopping, too. I preferred Nice to Paris and might consider tolerating this place again if the price is right compared to better hotels, but it will also have to be better than apartments that I might think about renting instead.

I should add that the breakfast was pretty good with lots of variety.

Wonderful anniversary weekend

chanshuikay on 02/11/2017 13:25

We spent a weekend here for our anniversary and loved every moment of it. The hotel is very convenient for the seaside, the town, the attractions everything. The airport bus route 98 stops right opposite the hotel on the promenade des Anglais, and the bus back to the airport is right in front of it. There is also a Macdonald's downstairs for your late night cravings.

Some other reviews have said that the rooms are in bad condition and need rennovation. Ours looked like it had been newly rennovated and was clean and spotless, so I guess they have finished some rooms already. The room we were given was a huge room with big balcony/terrace facing the sea entirely. On the balcony were two deck chairs and also a separate table and chairs. The view was absolutely amazing, and we spent a lot of time here watching the sea/sunset/sunrise.

The room itself was also huge, and the bathroom was especially impressive, with two sinks, a bathtub and shower too. The nicest touch though was that one side of the bathroom was a patio window/door onto the balcony, so you could sit in the bath and enjoy the sea/sunset. Just great.

The bed was basically two single beds attached together to form a big double bed. It was comfy and we slept well.

The room came with fridge, wardrobe and safe, a sofa with table and stools. There was also a coffee machine but no kettle with tea. I asked for a kettle and was given one no problem, however there were no tea bags nor milk, which I found disappointing, as being a Brit I love my cuppa. Luckily I had my own teabags, and got some milk from the convenience store around the corner to hotel.

The rooftop pool is right in front of the rooftop restaurant La Terrasse and is a tiny pool. I certainly wouldn't want to be swimming in their with all those people watching me, so I didn't try.

Breakfast was a buffet affair with fresh bread, cereal, cheese, ham, yoghurt, the usual stuff you'd expect on the continent. There were also a variety of juices and hot drinks, and a few limited hot food options (bacon/sausage/egg). Surprisingly they also had instant noodles and chinese porridge. I would have liked there to have been more hot options personally.

Staff service was ok, and helped where they could, nothing to complain about.

Would I come here again? Yes definitely! My wife has already mentioned she wants to come here every winter.....
