Just an awful nights stay at this Ibis. First room smelled like toilet as soon as we walked in. After complaining were given another room, which smelled of cigarettes and the stench ( I'm guessing from mildew) was contained to the shower stall which we never re-opened again. Showered at the beach the next morning instead.
Thankfully I travel with disinfecting wipes so I was able to wipe down fingerprints and remote etc. This was a sad ending to an otherwise wonderful visit to Nice, but even if you need to be near the airport as we did, I cannot recommend this hotel, it was just awful all around. The rooms are very basic, not even a phone, wifi barely worked, but this was my first ( and last) stay at an Ibis so I'm guessing that's their standard. Also the area outside the hotel is currently a constructions site for the new tram. There wasn't any noise while we were there but it just added to our depressing hotel experience. Only thing that cheered us up was walking the one block over the esplanade and the beach.

Despite the basic layout of the room, the price, location and cleanliness of the hotel was fine.
After trying outside options for breakfast, we opted for the in-house breakfast. Good value and quality.
Would stay again, just a few metres from the beach, buses, so location great..
Only drawback is the current work building the new tramway outside the hotel. No noise, however.

We frequent different hotels all over the world, from luxury to very basic accommodation. In general, Ibis Budget hotels are a good choice if you need to spend a night or two somewhere in Europe without wanting to spend a whole lot of money for an overnight stay - in general you get basic, rather small but still decent rooms, basic towels and linen, an average mattress, no extras. In turn, prices are very competitive. This is only partly the case for this Ibis Budget Nice Californie Lenval in Nice. Prices are somewhat high for what you get and the bathroom's condition and cleanliness is very disappointing: Mould stains, a lack of cleanliness and hygiene. In turn, the hotel's location is great, just a few steps from the avenue and the beach. Staff is attentive, breakfast is very cheap but also very basic.

The hotel is okay with friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Clean room. Good location to discover the city, the beach and the airport. Bus stops near. In future tram will go also there. Recommended to stay.

If you are the type of 'a place to sleep and take a shower' tourist is Ibis Budget good enough for you. Room rate is good, place is clean and they also offer breakfast for lower prices. As always with these low-budget hotels, they don't have parking.
