We had two meals here - and would have had more had it not been for a wedding. Excellent food in lovely comfortable surroundings. An excellent range of dishes were available. The veal, foie gras and gnocchi was to die for!

We stayed the first night of our Dordogne walking holiday at Les Flots Bleus in Beaulieu sur Durdogne. The room was large with a sitting area and the bed was very comfortable. Dinner in the elegant dining room set the bar rather high for all the other dinners we would eat at the following hotels1 The food was excellent and beautifully presented. My Cream of Chestnut soup was very good. The hotel is right by the river and very photogenic - as is the whole village.

Stayed here for one night 10 Jul - nice place next to river - good walks straight from hotel. Good local restaurants too. The breakfast was good and the room very comfortable. A fairly good start for our holiday here.

Unfortunately we were given a very noisy and cramped room which overlooked a back lane. At night there is quite a lot of noise from this lane and this makes sleeping difficult. The restaurant was average but has a nice outlook over the river. If you stay here, ensure you get a room that looks over the river.

We happened upon this restaurant in late September looking for lunch, and I'm embarrassed to say I'm no longer certain what main plate I had. Pretty sure it was a braise, pork or lamb. But I remember my companions reveling in typical Perigeux fare; delightful small salad, a cream soup. We hadn't planned for a sweet, but ordered anyway, I think just to prolong things.
So oddly, the food per se wasn't key, although I remember it as very good. We were outside on the terrace. The weather, cooperative. The service, impeccable. There must be some better way to say what I mean by that. A sense of being welcomed with sincerity, and an earnest effort to give pleasure by folks with special talent for it. So this was a delight that stands out among a 40-day visit to rural France during which we lunched most days. You can find your own bliss in many such places, but Les Flots Bleus was mine.
