There is not much economic activity and little population between Santiago and La Serena. To break up the drive on our return south, we decided to stay overnight in Ovalle (after leaving the Elqui valley following an early lunch). This hotel would be ordinary in any other country, but it is a true oasis in this part of Chile. It's overpriced by Chilean standards, but very convenient for access from the parking lot, and clean enough! The hotel restaurant was a pleasant surprise for dinner. Breakfast is better than average. There is unused space in the room that should have a desk. There is only one tiny waste basket provided (in the bathroom). The shower control needs to be repaired, and the vanity leaks water onto the floor. Single-pane windows do not provide sufficient protection from road noise. The hotel had very few guests the night we were there, and reception should have placed us on the quieter side of the building. My overall rating of Very Good is generous, because I would stay here again if I was travelling this route.

We chose this hotel because it seemed to be one of the few in Ovalle that we could find. It was a little pricey for what it was and was a little removed from town itself, but was easy to find.
When we arrived, the staff were all very friendly and eager to help us. There was a business meeting going on in one of the conference rooms, and despite being busy the staff were attentive to us when we walked in.
The rooms are modern, but very basic, and we had trouble getting the room warm enough for our liking with the electric heating system in place. The bed was comfortable, though, and the amenities sufficient. The room had a window overlooking the courtyard, where tons of rabbits and a couple of llamas were hanging out.
For dinner we ate at the restaurant, and found it to be excellent. The service was very attentive and our waiter made sure that all of our needs were taken care of. I ordered the conger eel and my husband ordered ceviche. Both dishes were very fresh and delicious. The restaurant was the best aspect of the hotel--very good!

The staff is very nice, very friendly and trying to be helpful. The rooms are fine, everything clean. However, the atmosphere is not as I had expected it, it's close to a highway, not really surrounded by vinaries as we expected. We wanted to do some tours by bike but there was nowhere to go no ways for hiking or so nearby. Breakfast is ok, but nothing special.

We spent 2 nights here. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good, with several varieties of fresh fruit juices. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is a few miles from the center of Ovalle, but is easy to get to.

I will say that is not a good hotel, nothing special.
The breakfast (included in the price that I paid) was really poor, not even cereals or non fat milk.
The room was freezing, and the air conditioning system was insufficient to heat all the room.
Restaurant has good food, but 5-6 variety plates.
Recommendation : Try to don't pay too much for this hotel.
