Quirky place to stay

Three of us arrived in the dark and after a drive around found the car park at the rear while I entered via front door. The manager was a character and helpful. The room was fine for what we wanted. We were hoping to just eat in but this was not possible. Manager directed us to town which was a short walk away.
The room was not the top standard with only 1 cup in a room booked for 3; there was a half eaten biscuit in one of the drawers and no towels. The manager very quickly supplied towels and cups. It was a pleasant change to go into a room with the window open. The breakfast was adequate but the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Room was lovely, owner very chatty

Despite the previous reviews, this hotel was ideal for staying in Banbury. We stayed in room 32 and was impressed by the size, the four poster bed and the huge TV. Owner was in the bar when we popped down for a drink - very chatty and friendly. Had no issues at all. Parking at rear helpful too.
Avoid at all costs - Terrible & dirty.

I booked last minute & was the cheapest in Banbury... Very limited walking space around the bed, at least the shower was hot. In the moning, the table I went to for my breakfast had a cup of tea on it which looked like it had been forgotten 2 weeks ago as it had mold growing in it. Avoid at all costs !!!!
Creaky!!

From the outside this place looks awful. Parking is at the rear and is secluded and seems safe. The side entrance is quite creepy with poor lighting and if I was a woman I could feel quite intimidated by it. When I checked in an old fella sitting behind a messy and cluttered reception desk told me to wait while he finished what he was doing. hmmmmm. Ok, so I checked in and was pointed to my room. I walked into my room and the en-suite to be greeted by a streak of orange slime on the edge of the bath. Nice. Then I went to the loo and had to hang on for dear life as the loo seat was broken and tried to slide off the porcelain every time I shifted position. My room (No34) was right on the 2nd floor landing so I was subjected to every creaky floorboard footstep and every loud bang and every conversation. Walls are paper thin and floors are more creaky then a big bag of creaky things. The saving grace was the bed as it was really comfortable and I did get a good nights sleep.
Disabled traveller. Staff fantastic.

Due to not being able to access the main house I had a chalet. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed a good laugh most days. The breakfast was served in my chalet.
It was good quality food and well cooked. Nothing was to much trouble for these guys. Which is a Great Leap Forward from when I last visited.
The rooms are basic but comfortable.
I'm glad I gave it a second chance.
Thanks again guys for a great 5 days.
