What People are saying

Great service, certainly the extra mile

Francois J on 19/10/2017 05:35

We stayed at Little Cove to attend a show at Outback Spectacular. The personnel assisted us after hours to reprint our tickets as we left ours at home. Extremely helpful and friendly service. The only down side of the location is the proximity to the airport....Unless you like the sound of planes ;-)

Nice spot with clean facilities

Luke C on 11/03/2017 22:45

This resort offers great views and clean facilities. Its proximity to the cove itself and beach is its main attraction. The view from the rooms is amazing.

Only downside is the constant flight arrivals at coolangatta airport as this place is directly under the landing path. For kids, it is a good distraction.

The staff were friendly and we felt secure. The pool was clean and spacious.

We will stay again if that helps others make a decision.

Great Area Away from Surfers Paradise

Aaron R on 06/11/2016 03:49

We went here for a weekend away from the family and we're very surprised about the quality of the rooms. We had expected it to be nice. It not as nice as it was. There is onsite parking and the grounds are gated for security and privacy. There is a pool on site that is in full sun most of the day with BBQs available for use.

We stayed in apartment 21 on the third floor in building C and were very impressed with all aspects of the room. A 2 bedroom apartment with polished floors in the living areas, modern kitchen and bathroom and the master with ensuite. The view over Currumbin Creek and the Gold Coast was spectacular. We found the environment to be quiet but you will be in the tail end of the Gold Coast airport flight path.

There are shops and cafes about 2km away but. It really within walking distance however there is public transport directly in front of the complex.

Great location let down by abusive management

Jeremy T on 19/08/2016 04:26

The location of Little Cove is excellent. The mouth of the creek is at your doorstep and it is a short walk along the creek up to Currumbin beach. There is also a great park on the north side of the creek and the Pines shopping centre is about a 7 minute drive away. However, the owners of Little Cove apartments are let down by on-site management. I read several reviews complaining about Bruce and Sandra and several others saying they were very helpful, so I thought I'd chance it. Unfortunately, I expect guests' experiences with them are probably a bit of a lottery.

We are unsure of the reason for the abuse from Sandra, though it could possibly stem from the fact we booked through Agoda (which gave us MUCH better rates than booking directly), and also from noting a lot of small issues with the apartment - issues which we largely ignored in the hope that by highlighting them to management, they would just be rectified for future guests. Sandra seemed to take these on board initially, but when we remembered a few other things and sent a follow up email the abuse was overwhelming.

The 3 bed apartment we stayed in (no. 15) was ideal for my mother, grandmother, wife and children. However, it needs some tlc. It became apparent during our stay that management had not attended to a lot of niggly (and potentially dangerous) problems, e.g. the kitchen light cover spontaneously fell to the floor on our first evening next to my daughter, the timber surround for the microwave fell off several times nearly landing on people's feet (and could have landed on my children's heads), the light switch to the ensuite was loose and potentially dangerous. As an owner, I would be mortified by these safety issues for my guests and you rely on management to ensure they are corrected.

Perhaps the biggest problem was cleanliness. Several pots, plates and glasses were dirty and needed washing before use. Semi-dried urine around bath-seat hinges was not appreciated. While the apartment looked clean on entry, the unhygeinic state of certain items was certainly not "4 star". Also, no dustpan and brush was provided for our brief stay so we made do with leaving a pile for the cleaners to pick up and noted the lack of dustpan to the manager - Sandra - on leaving. We also had put the (very old) dishwasher (that has no instructions) on after breakfast and it was still going when we checked out.

On further contact with Sandra - we received a largely nonsensical, but nonetheless clearly offensive, email. Sandra claimed there were some bits of paper and food on the floor in all bedrooms and that it would take a day to clean up after us if we ever stayed again. This was immediately perplexing given my wife returned to collect my son's toy (that Sandra had thrown away) just an hour after check-out and the place had already been cleaned (supposedly). We tried to give Sandra some benefit that perhaps one of our children had dropped a piece of paper (though certainly no food) - even though we all went through and ensured all floors were clean and the place was tidy. We have collectively stayed in hundreds of places, rented out many investment properties and are all particularly pedantic about tidiness, so we remain perplexed by Sandra's (very vague) accusation that there was some paper and crumbs. Sandra also said cleaners are not paid to empty dishwashers.

I explained that:
(a) we had paid for cleaning in the price (that had been increased for a short stay, as is expected),
(b) it is customary for dishwashers to be put on just before check out,
(c) had the previous guests used the dishwasher (or, indeed, had management inspected the dishes etc) we would not have been provided with chunks of old food stuck to the plates/pans/glasses, and
(d) if they have such unusual requirements of their supposed guests (i.e. to do the cleaning, including the dishes of previous guests) then a detailed check-out procedure should be supplied prior to booking.

In response we have suffered further abuse from "Management". I would be happy to provide the email exchange if you are considering booking, so you can see what you may face.

"Management" have effectively said that guests are expected to thoroughly sweep (apparently without a dustpan) and vacuum the entire apartment (regardless of length of stay) and have effectively said that the dishwasher cannot be used on the morning of departure.

We have not encountered this from a 4 star serviced apartment before, let alone unrated ones, BnBs or Airbnbs. Given the lack of cleanliness when we arrived (which seems to partly depend on how well the previous guests have washed up), my tip is to factor in a couple of hours of cleaning into your holiday - mostly during the check-out rush - before you decide whether this is the place for you. If you have kids, I am sure you will consider their demands ludicrous - especially given the possibility that you are expected to leave things cleaner than when you arrived!

Couple of other things - the DVD player damaged our DVD and prevented us from finishing a movie. One car park is insufficient for a 3 bed apartment though there are outdoor visitors spaces. Perhaps the visitors car park could be covered by shade sail, at least. The pool is heated, but still too cold for swimming in August. The spa bath bubbles but is colder than the pool - I learned it is not heated so is incorrectly advertised as a "hot tub" on several sites.

Given the very high rating this place received, I expected better. Having said that, there was nothing particularly objectionable about it other than management and we enjoyed the position. Looking at booking next door next time - the Hills - which does not seem to have repetitive complaints about management. Oh - it is also under a flight path and they come in very low, but not overly frequently! The kids enjoyed the novelty for a day.

Water views fantastic

mand0829 on 04/07/2016 11:16

Needing a place to stay at short notice for two nights I came across this hidden gem. If you need a place to slow down and contemplate life with water views , then this could be the place. A short walk on the Saturday saw me at the farmers market at palm beach currumbin high school, what a delight. Lots of organic produce and croissants to die for. The unit is clean, large, and comfortable. Felt at home straight away. The planes flying overhead might be a problem for some, but we enjoyed watching them and made a game out of it. Beds comfortable also.
