Booked a small twin room, was given bunk beds.

Beware. I booked a small twin room but got bunk beds. When I spoke to them I was lied to when told that they have bunk beds in all their rooms. Next room had a double and the site on booking.com still lets you book a small twin room. Mobility meant that I slept on the floor. On arrival you MAY be allocated a room at 1 Coleridge St or be given a key for 49 Sheil St. Be warned, too far to walk or 5mins in a car on a busy main rd. Nothing mentions this. Breakfast is cereal/toast/boiled eggs served in a cereal bowl. No tea making facilities as it states. Electricity failed twice in 2days, breakfast finally at 9.50. Paul Kaye, the owner is a hard man to get hold of. The manager wasn't keen to tell me his name but got it after asking 3x.
Thank you!

Very welcoming and friendly staff; small room, but clean and cosy; excellent continental breakfast with a wide choice of items. I will book again if in the Liverpool area. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Do not book!!!

Me and a friend booked Liverpool Lodge for a night in Liverpool after seeing the reasonable price and "Good" rating on Booking.com. However I feel that the rating and price were very misleading!!!
After arriving in Liverpool and getting into a taxi from Lime Street to Liverpool Lodge, the taxi driver joked that "it's not a hotel" and "wait until you see it", we weren't left with high expectations. Once dropped off at the hotel we realised what he meant, Liverpool lodge itself is not a great area, it definitely isn't a short walk from Liverpool and the areas you would walk through wouldn't make it pleasant if you did walk. To enter you have to ring a doorbell at a side entrance, when we did we were greeted in a rather strange manner by a man in a vest and asked to join him in the office to point to our booking in the diary (his English was limited I think). I left my friend to take in outdated hallway area whilst I did this. After receiving our keys we trekked up several flights of stairs with their threadbare carpets and unusual wall decor to reach our room. On entering the room we were further suprised to see such a small room featuring two single beds and a tiny gap to walk in between, the room was extremely small! The bathroom next door (which we were to share with other guests) was also small, dark and smelly. We only spent 5 minutes in the room, which we used to book another hotel in the centre of town!
We didn't know whether to laugh or cry after our short experience at Liverpool Lodge, but based on that I wouldn't recommend any one to stay there. In future I shall always read the TripAdvisor reviews first and not go purley on a Booking.com rating !
This is not a hotel.

It's more like a hostel. The lady running the place was lovely. Breakfast was plentiful and lots of choice. Continental breakfast.
The room was plenty big enough for two and clean. It reminded me of somewhere builders would stay when working away from home.
DO NOT STAY HERE

I hated it doesn't even begin to describe our experience of staying at the Liverpool Lodge! The room itself was okay although a little small but fine for what we needed. The hotel was lacking an iron and I found myself ringing the owner five times to get one. He made out it was a total hassle and was very snappy and hung up on me several times. The lady serving breakfast was lovely and couldn't be more helpful! However when the owner arrived the morning turned into a nightmare! He began to scream at the female staff member shouting and swearing at her while guests were eating breakfast and still in the lodge. He shouted at her in front of her two very young children and told them to piss off and continued on to say they deserve a smack when they are crying in fear! He then took the staff member in to the kitchen to continue shouting at her while the two little ones were left on there own. She then left the lodge in tears. I find this totally unacceptable behaviour and very intimidating.
The sign on the door should say beware of the brute never mind beware of the dog!
