My friends had come down to Chennai for US Embassy Interview and I had booked this hotel for them. It is primitive style hotel, still not updated or renovated. Needs one badly though. As it was peak season and booked in last minute, rates were high.

this property has confused me to decide if its good or not..well let me put down the prop and cons...
To begin with pros:
1. Good and helpful staff.
2. Big and clean rooms,
3. Comfortable Sleep quality
4. Location is neat and clean
5. Proximity to railway station, malls, beach etc.
6. Convenient for people who want to attend marriages in the halls nearby.
Cons:
1. Does not have in room dining or restaurant.
2. Rooms do not look fresh and modern.
3. Property looks very dull and boring..
4. Parking might be an issue if there are many cars.
5. Price can be it a bit lower considering the overall aspects.
6. No Internet
so its up to you to decide..

We booked this hotel for parents as they had to attend the visa interview at US embassy. Rooms are old, lifts are like outdated and risky.. felt like not worth the money even though its just 2200/- for double room, but sure its what you can expect in center of Chennai for this money.. they offered only one breakfast for a stay of two days, provided 24hrs check in and checkout that was good. Will recommend ibis hotel than this one, however this is definitely a cheaper and convenient option for US embassy visits

My family liked this guest house very much.
Stayed for 3 weeks at Royapettah branch.
Rooms are very clean, comfortable and spacious. Beds are large and enough for 2 adults and a child. They did not charge extra for my 5 year old. Provided extra pillows.
Toilets are clean and large enough. Hot water was available. Dustbin bags were provided on request.
Fresh towels, beddings and medimix soap were provided at each servicing/cleaning which was done prompty as and when we needed.
Free breakfast was provided ( south indian items which we later requested and got changed to bread omelet ). No tea or coffee was provided with breakfast. Can buy coffee from machine near reception.
Filter water suitable for drinking was available on first floor lobby.
The manager, receptionists and room boys are all very helpful, polite, friendly and caring.
The guest house doesn't have a restaurant nor a cook, so we had to go out or order in. There are veg n non-veg restaurants nearby. Spencers store, pharmacies, cafe coffee day, mosques, ATMs and fruitshops are nearby at walkable distance.
For shopping express mall, city center mall and T nagar are not very far.
Marina beach is quite nearby.
Had a problem of a/c being very loud (some rooms) but later changed to a room with a quieter a/c.
Small flat screen TV with only local channels and Tamil dubbed channels. Even the cartoon channels were in Tamil. No adequate sports channels either.
In summary, Lloyds guest house was comfortable, clean and convenient with a reasonable price.

This kid-friendly guest house in Chennai also maintains a front desk assistance which answers query throughout the day, parking for vehicles, elevator service, free newspaper in the lobby area and security guard. Guests can avail of room service which is offered all 24 hrs. Laundry, parking and internet service are all part of the package.
