The Lobstick restaurant was recommended by the motel we stayed in. Later we realized they had the same owner. The restaurant was located in an old but clean hotel. The restaurant was not heavily populated with only 2 or 3 tables occupied. A very friendly and pleasant waitress served our table. Our breakfast was good but not outstanding and I doubt we would revisit this restaurant as there are so many interesting places to explore in Jasper.

Be very careful while booking this hotel through Trip Advisor. We booked a month in advance and paid in advance. When we arrived for our stay on November 11 (after driving for 4 hours with 2 kids), we were told that we did not have a reservation even though we had a confirmation email proving that we were booked to stay at the hotel. The front desk supervisor advised that there was nothing that he could do to accommodate us since the hotel was totally booked, and after calling someone he was able to tell us that our reservation had actually been made at the Marmot. We did not want to stay at the Marmot because we wanted specific amenities that the Lobstick had (pool that you could get to from inside and outdoor hot tub). The supervisor did eventually transfer our reservation over to the Chateau Jasper next door but we were unhappy with our stay there and only stayed for one night instead of the two nights that were originally booked.
It was a very disappointing stay in Jasper and I strongly advise anyone who is thinking of booking through Trip Advisor to book through the hotel's website instead.

I had absolutely no expectations whatsoever when I first arrived at this hotel. But when I got here I was more than happy. Especially as I was given a really large spacious room to myself along with really good amenities.
I was also very happy that the heating in the hotel worked well as I was coming down with a cold at the time. And from what I remember all of the staff were extremely helpful to my needs as well.
Also the town centre of Jasper was only a 10 minute walk or a short bus ride away so I didn't have to go too far to do any shopping or get any food. So if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Jasper, I would certainly recommend this hotel.

The room was nice but had a bit of an odor to it. We were with the Rocky Mountaineer tour and understand that there were/are not many options for hotel stays but being budget travelers it would have probably been what we would have chosen for ourselves. The room was too hot, we had some trouble turning off the heat but still had to open a window to get it a bit cooler and then were awakened during the night by some elk strolling through the parking lot - which was actually kinda neat.

The Rocky Mountaineer Train Trip booked us and we assumed for almost $1000 per day for the trip, it would be great. but it wasn't. The room was large, the bathroom was small - it was dated with few charging outlets. We got there after 9:00 PM and had a bite in the bar which is attractive - service was good and the people were very nice. Breakfast is not included and wasn't cheap. We got there late and left early - it would have been nice to see some of the town but that wasn't the hotel's fault!
