A traditional country farmhouse

L7528VPjanep on 27/07/2017 19:58

Typical country farmhouse with a large pond in the front and lovely view over the fields at the back. the bedroom also had a comfortable sitting room with old world charm, as well as a bath/shower. tv ,selection of books to read, tea/coffee facilities fresh milk was provided with home baked biscuits. The delightful hosts Rose and Leslie could not do enough for us, were very welcoming and showed us to the room, with lots of information of where to visit, several gardens nearby, Leominster nice country town with antique shops and places for lunch Hereford fairly close. The breakfast was delicious taken in the dinning room which had an original cider press a lot of history re cider making. in all a delightful stay and will stay there again.

Uncomfortable and dirty

jansosborne on 25/07/2017 19:25

The room up a set of uneven external steps, then down a step. The bed was two singles joined together, slightly different heights a ridge and a gap where they joined, very uncomfortable. The ensuite smelt of stale urine, the shower cubicle had black mould on nearly every bit of grout. There was dust and dirt on the pictures and plaques. The tiny tv, no DVD player kept losing signal and the remote had to be held really close to the tv for it to work. Booked for three nights but only stayed one and that was because I was tired and it was raining heavily.

Old style place with real character

A very enjoyable drive from Shelsley Walsh and a bit tricky access for a low sports car, though there are closer places if you book early enough.
Quiet eco-estate of uncut meadows and ancient old cider farm with intact press. Host well retired and helpful without being OTT. Guest rooms accessed by outside stairs, mine was the larger with lounge, books and lots of character even if obviously set up over 20 years ago.
It's not up to date but was comfortable, everything worked and it felt more satisfying staying here than a corporate- this is how these folks make a living. Wide choice at breakfast Inc local fry up.
I felt the images could be better so main point is to post these, if I can...

Time warp

We arrived at Lower Bache House and was greeted by the owner who showed us to our room in the annex. The accommodation consisted of a small sitting area, a bedroom area and an en suite bathroom. The room was big enough but the 6ft bed made it feel cramped. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. The decor was dated and needed freshening up. The room felt cold and unaired. The bathroom had a shower over the bath but we could not get it to work. The breakfast was in a room in the main house converted from a barn. The cooked breakfast was good but the grapefruit and prunes on the menu were not on offer. The whole house felt neglected. Access to the house was about a mile down a single track road with only one passing place.

My observations on a 2 night stay at Lower Bache House, Kimbolton, Leominster.

My room was extremely comfortable & had a small sitting room equipped with coffee & tea making facilities as well as a flat screen TV & DVD player. Breakfast was first class & it was great to see real Manx kippers on offer, which are very rarely seen in many of the bigger hotels in England. They were superb. Lower Bache House is very much in the country being about 2 miles from the village centre. The hosts were both friendly & helpful and ensured my visit was enjoyable.
