Very friendly staff .woman on reception very very helpful.
Nothing to much trouble.
Very clean and tidy great place to stay!!!!

My mother who is a pensioner and I stopped here last weekend. It was clearly a busy day with various coach parties and football visitors but we had booked well enough in advance
I booked and paid for a twin room
Which I checked with reception on arrival
Reception then said yes twin but we’ve put you in the family room it’s bigger and better
It was late and we were tired
The room had one lovely comfy double bed and what I can only describe as a fold-out kids bed against the wall (for age 4-9 probably) for me
That is what I had to sleep on! As I couldn’t and shouldn’t have to share with my mother
Not my interpretation of a twin room or anything like what I paid for
My mattress was only 8 inches off the floor whilst my mother’s bed was double that 16 inches off the floor
Very uncomfortable nights sleep

We arrived at the tickle trout on Wed 1st Nov at 11pm after a 4.5 hour drive There were 6 other people from another group checking in at the same time before us. Before the receptionist starting checking the other people in she yells mine and my colleagues name at which point we respond 'yes thats us". The receptionist gets on to the phone probably to her manager and says 'those 2 are here what do you want me to do?' She puts phone down and continues very slowly checking each one of the group of 6 in very slowly. Eventually it's our turn and she apologises and informs us that the hotel is overbooked and that we need to go to another hotel. At this point I challenged why they said us wait in a queue for over 14 minutes to be told this news. Suzanne response was 'it wasn't 15 minutes'. Suzanne was a trainee so I actually blame the person at the whoever her manager was and the person she spoke to on the phone who clearly was hiding. We requested that we speak to manager but were told that there isn't a manger on duty. This was clearly a lie as all hotel will have at least a DM on site at all times. My colleague then started challenging whether a room had been confirmed at the other hotel, the price difference, and whether 2 seperate rooms had been confirmed. Suzanne then had to call the other hotel to confirm the price and the booking. We were told the other hotel was £30 extra which we refused to pay. The other hotel would accept an IOU from the Tickle trout and wanted full payment settled. Eventually we were given £30 cash from the tickle trout to pay the difference at the other hotel. I've stayed at The MacDonald Windsor for 2 nights and had a lovely experience but the whole experience with the tickle trout has put me off the Macdonald group.

Deluxe Room was comfortable enough but the heating had not been turned on for our arrival, returned after dinner and it was still not working, Receptionist treated me like an imbecile but eventually said she would get someone up right away, (8.30) no show by 10.00, retuned to reception and she sent a barman up with a small heater, too little too late. Dinner was grim, can't figure why they call this the "Scottish Grill", menu unexciting, service poor, food less said the better, but bill not outrageous.
Well located for stop off on the motorway but I don't think I will hurry back.

I arrived at the hotel on a Sunday at 3.45pm to be told that they're have a problem and that my room wasn't ready for me and when I asked how long the reception couldn't answer. However this did explain why there were so many unhappy looking people around the reception area. I decided to go and wait in bar where I received a free pint and only because I asked for it, it wasn't offered. I waited in bar for an hour and 20mins before going to reception to get an update as they didn't come to me, only to be told it still wasn't ready. I eventually got to my room just after 5.35. On arrival at the floor I was on the corridor was full of empty trays, bottles, bedding and rubbish.
I later on asked reception for assistance to get the heating in my room working, only to be told that there appears to be a problem and that it will be reported to maintenance in the morning. In the mean time I had to remain in a cold room as all the electric heaters they have had already been issued. I therefore either say with my coat on or went to bed.
Unfortunately I can't remember what the restaurant or food was like as the above is foremost memory i have.
