A very cosy friendly hotel with comfortable room, great breakfast and a spa facility. The staff in reception were very helpful and arranged forward booking s for us Very well located near the bus stop

The Maison St. Jean is a pleasant small hotel with a great location in Courmayeur. Excellent location, just a block from the main pedestrian area and blocks of shops and restaurants, and across the street from a Carrefour Express mini-market. Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. The interior is cozy and room rates are a good value. The restaurant is good, but perhaps overpriced (although I also found the rack of deer gamier than I'm accustomed to, but that might be the local taste.) Breakfast was pleasant; an array of pastries, croissants, and bread, as well as a simple meat platter, some cheese, cereal, and yogurt.
A couple of minor drawbacks: the WiFi system is free but requires a unique code for each device; you get these from reception, one for each device. The problem is that you need to keep logging back in every time you leave and come back, since that takes you out of WiFi range. It's tedious, and a simpler setup would be to have one password and change it monthly. Also, the parking lot is VERY small and does not accommodate all the cars, so guests cars block each other in and leave the key with reception. Not a big deal, but it can delay entry/exit by up to 15 minutes. But aAgain, these are minor drawbacks from an otherwise very pleasant weekend my family spent at Maison St. Jean.

Courmayeur is a pretty village in one of the most scenic places in Europe. I was there for a brief visit to ski and mountain bike in May (I highly recommend renting an Ebike and heading up Val Ferret - stunning).
The hotel is small and family run. Wooden beam style. A bit gloomy inside (no natural light) but my 2nd floor room (206) was clean and a decent size with a pleasant west-facing balcony and a semi-mountain view. Be warned though that the balconies on the second floor are not ideal if you find heights alarming - It's a long way down! Breakfast was good with a decent selection. I didn't try dinner but the menu looked very appetising and reasonably priced. Good house wine served in properly impressive Riedel style wine glasses. Didn't try the pool or spa area as (oddly) it is not included in the room charge so you have to pay extra.
Overall decent value and did the job. Just a few grumbles:
The Wi Fi is free and fast but you have to log-in each time with a long stream of random letters and numbers. Neither the password nor the username can be saved so it is incredibly annoying. Surely there has to be a better way?
The hotel has free parking BUT it is not suitable for large cars as the access from the street is very awkward. I had an estate and it was a struggle each time to get in and out. Probably fine with a smaller car.
Finally, is there any reason why the spa and pool is not included in the room price?

Our family of four (two adults, two adult children) recently stayed for four nights. Hotel is extremely cosy with lovely wooden-beamed rooms and all the mod-cons you would expect. The staff were uniformly smiley and couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast was excellent with everything you could need for a hard day hammering the slopes. With only a 5 minute walk to the main gondola up to the slopes and less than that to the main shopping area it is in a brilliant location.
Our only disappointment was as we checked out when we realised that we had been charged for using the pool - although there were signs which (I assume if you read Italian, which we don't) suggested there was a charge for using the pool, it wasn't terribly clear so the extra 40 euros a day that came as a bit of a shock.
Otherwise a lovely hotel which we would strongly recommend.

If you are a biker actually a Beemer and you want to spend a couple of days wandering around the beautiful mountain roads of Valle D'Aosta there's no best choice for your base camp. The hotel is gracefully located right in the center of the village, ideal for a stroll in the evening, has a superb restaurant with excellent food and great wine. This is a family run business but with the style and the accuracy of a Grand Hotel...
