What People are saying

Perfect location and very nice accomodations.

My husband and I came to visit family in Bala Cynwyd. This place is less than 10 min. from where they live. We stayed in the first floor room for one week. It was perfect! The room is spacious and very tastefully decorated. There are lots of windows and a door to a small porch overlooking the neighborhood. The bed is incredibly comfortable, I think in part due to the quality of the sheets. Amazing! There is a small kitchen area with apt sized refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, dishes, etc. The refrigerator is stocked with a few breakfast items such as English muffins, peanut butter and cream for coffee. It is just two blocks from Main Street Manayunk with lots of restaurants and bars. We were pleasantly surprised to hear some incredible jazz at the Manayunk Brewery on a Tues. night which is just 2 blocks from the room. We were able to use a spot in the parking garage which really helped, because the parking on the street can be tough. Joan was very accommodating from booking to departure and checked in on us throughout the week to make sure we had everything we needed. We hope to stay here again and definitely recommend this property! It is a great find!

what a wonderful find

A whistle stop visit to Philly to see my son in college meant finding somewhere out of the city, close to the college and the terrrace seemed to fit the bill. What a piece of luck, because right from dealing with Joan (the owners are Joan and Bill) over email, through to our last day, we could not have received any better service. The actual house is a corner 4 story property with Joan and Bill living on the top floor and the other floors comprising of suites which can be split or rented complete. two of us took a queen room with a communal living area although there were no other guests during our stay. The accommodation is lovely and clean, large bathroom and very comfortable bed, the town of Manyunk is so pretty with great little bars and restaurants. Just beware, it is a University/college town so there are plenty of students and student parties are not unusual and can be rowdy but more funny than a problem.

Quite a hilly area which didn't bother me but difficult for my Mum, however the property has a lift which Joan or Bill will happily give you access to when needed, and the Uber service round here is excellent safe, cheap and friendly.

I simply cannot say too much about how friendly and helpful the hosts were, and cannot imagine them being otherwise. I would have no hesitation in staying again or recommending to my friends, it may not be a super modern sleek hotel but all the better for it, a real slice of American hospitality.

Once we parked walking to all casual dining and entertainment was easy.

Manayunk is a wonderful place to spend a few days. Charming restaurants, upscale shops, and bars along Main St. and the walk from the Manayunk Terrace was short (15 min.) and easy going down and a bit more exercise going up the hill. The suite we rented was totally clean and well prepared for us. The hosts were extremely friendly and aimed to please. Breakfast in the room was English muffins and coffee and a fridge and microwave were there and worked well. There was a cool little balcony that was just above street level were you could have a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Parking is a challenge so once you find a primo space, don't move!!! Walking is best.

Horrible customer service and extremely unprofessional

First I will say the good things about this lodging. It is a clean, nice condo building in which rooms are now being rented.

Now the negatives, and the biggest negative is the owner, Joan. She lives on the second floor and made us feel like unwelcome guests in her home. And as other reviewers said, she made multiple comments about how we were lucky she rented to us as she has had so many phone calls. She made us feel like she was doing us a favor and not that we were her valued customers. When we were making tea in the common area outside of our room, she busted into the common area and asked what we were doing because she heard noise downstairs. We explained we were looking for tea. Apparently making tea was not apart of the $150/night rate. Then she came back later as we were sitting at a table again seeming to check in on us. It was very unsettling. When I asked her about this, she said that we we only booked the bedroom and weren't to use the common area. And she immediately became very rude. I won't go into details of our ensuing conversation, but needless to say it lead to us asking for a refund and leaving. I did not feel comfortable to stay there.

Second, although the price may seem reasonable, the actual size of your personal space is very small. There also is no real breakfast to speak of. We did not stay for it but from what we saw in the fridge, there were old, soggy english muffins to toast. Overall it is very overpriced.

Finally, there are no actual key locks on the doors. There is a key pad, and judging from the worn numbers, I do not know if these are ever changed. This means anyone who has stayed in your room could enter the building and your room at anytime. (This also includes her, after I put my bags in our room, I later found her eye glasses on the dresser.)

I would not recommend this place to stay.

Horrible customer service all around RUDE

I made a reservation back in October for for my daughter's graduation in May. I paid in full on the date of booking. Then inApri I get notification that she wasn't going to honor the reservation. Apparently she could get more per night and more nights than I reserved. Instead of being upfront from the beginning she lied and said She would honor the reservation and kept my money for months. Luckily booking.com came through and ran interference so we ended up with somewhere to stay.

Her lack of respect and decency was overwhelming from a customer service oriented business. Look what she wrote in an email...." Just relax and go with it. No one is trying to take advantage of you. It is just how things worked out. I'm sure you have been sent pictures. She has an inn that is not always active and only does my overflow from time to time. Be glad that I went out of my way to find something for you because there is nothing at all around and I get 3 to 4 phone calls a week for those dates. Be Glad and rejoice. I don't want to hear from you again about this. If you would rather find your own place just go ahead and leave it at that."
