What People are saying

Lovely bit of luxury

pinkyblonde on 11/06/2017 16:00

We stayed here as a family group back in May (feels a lifetime ago now), it was an amazing experience. We stayed in a junior suite and this was lovely, was just an extra big double really but all was great in the room. If you would like a kettle just ask and they provide one. Is close to the beach, I would think a 5 minute walk for most. Very nice bar next to the supermarket and very close to the bus stop. Would definitely recommend.

A pleasant hotel in a good location

We received a friendly reception as we arrived at this bright cheerful-looking hotel. We liked the surroundings and the public areas but our room was a little gloomy, being at the back of the hotel in the orange building. The room had a private patio but got no sun and just overlooked the back hedge. I found the bed hard and a little damp but I was given extra blankets when I asked for them. The furnishings in the room were bright but the room lacked adequate storage and there was no kettle. There was a small safe and a fridge with water provided. The shower room was basic. The pool area was lovely but busy. I think this was because the nearest beach did not have any sun beds on it yet. We would have spent time there if it had. We did visit other beaches in the area which were lovely. I think more sunbeds in the hotel gardens, which are beautiful, would have been popular. Breakfast was buffet style in a bright, airy room by the pool. There are some good tavernas very close to the hotel and it is very easy to catch a bus to Skiathos Town or anywhere else along the coast road so there is no shortage of places to eat. We ate in the hotel restaurant on one occasion and had an excellent meal but it is more expensive than the tavernas. The hotel was full of lovely guests and we enjoyed our holiday in the Mandraki Hotel overall.

Just a great break despite the weather and no beach facilities

This was an extended family holiday with the youngest member being 7 months and the oldest (me) 65, we were spread across two junior suites and a family suite. The staff couldn't do enough for us, the rooms were well equipped and constantly tidied and cleaned by the most friendly staff we've experienced in a long time. There was no down side to this place apart from the beach, no tavernas and and no sunbeds but a quick hop on the bus and we were at another beach that had got their act together. Tried to book a fortnight at the end of the season but the hotel was full so we have had to move along the coast a bit.. We are not returners for the last 35 years we have holidayed in the med never going back but this Island has us hooked, I can see us coming back again and again until we are too old to travel, This September will be our third visit within 13 months.

Perfect place for a relaxing holiday

Great hotel, fabulous breakfast, wonderful staff, clean, not so great area at the beginning to middle of May

We have just returned from an 11 night break at the great little hotel. The staff were all lovely and you just needed to ask if there was anything you needed or for information. We stayed in room 501 which was spacious compared to other Greek hotels we have stayed in. Fresh towel when needed and fresh water daily. We think we must have come too early to the Island, flying out on 11 May 2017. The beaches at the Koukounaries end of the island were deslolate, bar one, Elani, which was a great find, but towards the end of our holiday unfortunately. As we had come to go to the beaches and snorkle this really spoiled our holiday. Having to trek to the beaches with all your food and drink and toilet supplies for the day was not what we expected to do. The mayor aparantly will not issue the licenses for the beach tavernas, unless he gets enough money offered, so they havent been cleaned or tidied up, some were really bad. Some of the restaurants were not yet open when we arrived. The one next to the Hotel The Big Bad Wolf was pretty bad, the Lamb Kleftico arrived almost cold and was the most uninspiring kleftico I have even seen, no colour on the meat or veg, lots of white fat still in the meat and more bone than meat. It was warmer after it had been through the microwave a second time!! The weather was changeable as we expected for May but there is nothing to do if it rains, with only one monastery for sightseeing, which we came across on our rented quad bike. What a beautiful building, worthy of getting to see.
It was the hotel that made our holiday for us, great to get back to and handy for the bus into Skiathos, 25ish minute journey, stop 23.
