Very Basic

Fine for a days stay if you do not have anywhere else to go. The rooms are really small and slightly unclean, especially the bathroom. Furniture's are old. Amenities are very basic: towel, water heater, tea bags/coffee, cupboard, no kitchen.
Fair Accmodation for a Short Stay

They have two facilities - one on Lake Palace and the other one at S R Das Road. We stayed for two nights in the facility on S R Das Road which is very close to the main Road, Lake as well as the Rabindra Sarobar Metro station. It is an average facility with smaller rooms (it will be not possible to accommodate an extra person in case you have 3 people). It is typically used by sales staff of many companies who provide them cheaper accommodation closed to the main road facilitating their movement. There are total 6 rooms. Toilets are small and shower was not really working in our room and we used the bucket for taking bath. Hot water is available and hence no issues. They should put an exhaust fan in the toilet. The complimentary breakfast is fixed - 2 pieces of bread (with butter but no pepper), one banana, one cup of milk or one egg, one tea. Food facility is provided only by ordering (from the Menu Card which is available in the room) from outside suppliers tied up with the Guest House. We tried to order one day but we did not get vegetarian food of our choice and hence we decided to have food outside at a place near Lake market (about 2km from the facility). We did not find any decent restaurant nearby. The charges are very reasonable @1600 per night which is inclusive of Taxes. The staff are generally good. They typically keep the main gate locked for safety purpose. It is a safe place for sure.
Not the best experience...

Got off to a bad start when I told them I was picking my partner up at the airport at 1 am. On my return I found we were locked out. The security guard was asleep in an inner room inside the building and I had to climb over the gate to get in.
I'd also booked a room with wi-fi, but when I checked in the manager told me they hadn't had wi-fi in the hotel for 5 years. I later found out this was untrue, it just wasn't available in the room he'd given me, despite my booking.
The room itself was adequate, though it had been very superficially cleaned since the last guests, bins hadn't been emptied, floors not swept.
The manager continued to be very rude throughout our stay and on more than one occasion I overheard him telling other guests things that simply weren't true. For example: He told one guest who asked for a larger room that all the rooms were the same size, however I'd previously seen several and knew this was not the case.
On checking out we met the owner and told him about our experiences. He apologised, offered to pay our taxi fare to the train station, and asked us not to give his hotel any bad reviews.
In his defence I should say that his hotel is perfectly adequate for a budget hotel in Kolkata, it is only the staff that let it down - very badly.
A quiet and budget friendly guesthouse..

A moderate and budget friendly guesthouse located in a quiet neighbourhood in south kolkata. Rooms are plain and bare, but clean and spacious. Service levels are sluggish and at best laid back. Keep your expectations to the absolute minimum. Ideal for solo male travellers or groups of friends together.
The breakfast is simple but good comprising 2 slices of toast, a omlette, a banana and tea. May not be ideal for families with kids.
Far from the Madding Crowd - Avoid this Guesthouse

Hotel is situated at a residential area in Mudiali in South Kolkata. It is quite far-off from Central Kolkata and is not at all a happening area but yes if you love peace its there. Now the positives - Rooms are clean and the AC works well , Well maintained rooms and spacious . Negatives - The support staffs are good but one Mr.Gopal who is the Manager/Head Man is rowdy and ill - behaved perhaps do not understand that we come here and pay and not staying at his Father's house for free. I think he has got full patronage from his owner who has given this man a free hand to speak whatever he likes with Guests. Well there is complimentary breakfast too but that you have to wait till 9 - 10 am and will be rewarded by 2 bread/1 egg/banana [ really great ] and yes there is Z-Category security for you as the Hotel gate is closed 24 hours ... I think by my travelling experience - you should avoid this Hotel.
