We organized an event in this hotel this summer and several of our guest were also accommodated here. It was an excellent experience.
The hotel has a very nice view towards the Ambracian gulf and enjoys an optimal location as it receives good sun at all times and nice wind surges, allowing it to stay cool as well. It has a classic interior without being too heavy and an excellent swimming pool with pool bar. The rooms, although not particularly modern, are good with comfy beds and all the necessary equipment.
All in all, the hotel provides all the necessary amenities for a troubleless stay.
As for the staff. They were at all times available and extremely helpful. Many of them also did a lot more than necessary to accommodate our needs and the needs of our guest. We also highly recommend to try the food from the restaurant.

We stayed three days during August 2016. In general the hotel was clean hotel, however the wifi was not working, one of the two lifts was out of order and the worst of all, during peek hours we had no water for shower. The carpets are old.
The breakfast was OK. The staff was friendly.

The Margarona Royal is a close to perfect hotel choice for families, couples or friends. It is located only 5 minutes drive from the centre of Preveza but still away from all the fuss and the noise. The hotel's location offers a nice view at the gulf and guarantees calm and quiet vacations. Moreover the magnificent Ionian beaches are just 10' to 30' away from the hotel. As for the hotel itself...

Great swimming pool. Nice rich breakfast. Very bad quality of wifi in rooms. In the public areas it was working better. Rooms look old, and very small.Dirty carpets.
Staff is polite and try to do the best possible. Elevators malfunctioned.Only one was working. Not in the center of the town but not far with taxi.

From the outside this hotel looks like an average hotel with a faded white exterior and dusty glass balconies. The not so pleasant aroma hits you when you first walk into the reception and the modern feel quickly disappears. This is an out dated hotel in great need of refurbishment starting with the stained, mouldy, olden day lounges. When checking in you are greeted by very unpleasant staff who act like they don't even have the time of day to talk to you. This basically set the tone for the rest of the stay.
From the reception you are met with small elevators that don't close for at least 30 seconds after you press the button. Once you get out of the lift and walk past the very outdated lounges and chairs you are welcomed to your room by the old, stained and mouldy carpet or as my family put it "it looks like a CSI crime scene". When you finally manage to get to your room you are suffocated by a very terrible smoky smell that stays with you throughout the stay. You can't escape the hot Greek sun shining through your window with very thin blinds and a terrible AC (It was on full blast and on 10 degrees Celsius but still felt like a sauna).
When trying to escape from the very hot room, you might hop down to the pool and sit on one of the lounge chairs but be careful because you will probably fall through them as most of them have holes and splits down the middle of them.
When you've had enough of the "great" hotel you may decide to go into the city but it is inconveniently located 3k's away from the hotel. The hotel is nowhere near the main heart of Preveza with the town and beaches located in a non walking distance. Overall a very bad stay.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone especially people with asthma or people looking to actually see the sights of Preveza. The photos look nothing like the actual hotel - stay away at all costs!
