Good Location, Great Service

We had a pleasant one night stay while traveling through Orleans. It is nicely located within walking distance of the main attractions in central Orleans. The highlight of our visit was the pleasant young lady, Juliette, who was working at the desk when we arrived and when we left. She quickly took care of the problem that we had booked the wrong date and had arrived one day ahead of our reservation date. With a smile, she booked us into a room for the night while apologizing because they had no rooms left of the larger size we had reserved for the following night. We were just happy she found a room for us and, while it was smaller, it was fine and we spent a comfortable night there. She recommended that we park in the city garage down the street in order to save money since the hotel had an arrangement there for its guests which turned out to be a good deal. Would definitely recommend this hotel as one with a friendly and helpful staff and as a well-priced and well-located hotel for an overnight stop.

Whoever complained about French people must have had an unfortunate experience. Orleans was our first stop in France and it was a nice surprise. Passersby tried to help us find the hotel's designated parking - which was not easy. Even if we do not speak fluent French and locals did not speak good English, they were trying and they were very friendly.
The hotel staff was pleasant too. Our room was clean, kind of barren, with a very small bathroom, no air conditioning and a window without a screen. No big surprise there as I am of European background and know what I can expect from an old hotel without luxury aspirations.
The "not quite a surprise" however, not an enjoyable memory either came at night, when someone in an apartment right across the street, partied until after midnight. We were tired and could not really closed the window as the day's heat was lingering in the room.
I guess other guests and neighbours felt the same way as I heard some yelling and cursing... without much result though. We all had to wait for the music to subside in order to get some sleep.
The breakfast was good, classic continental pastries, jams and coffee. Well... yes, but all of it was French. Translation: made with real butter, real fruits, and very good. With a strong coffee - we quickly forgot the unpleasant night...
