Marina del Marchese is a large beach resort just outside Botricello near Catanzaro. The beach is lovely as is the sea. The service from the multitude of staff was great, they are all very friendly and most of them speak excellent english. Unfortunately the resort is let down by the rooms.
Our double room was simply two single beds pushed together, meaning in the night you found yourself slipping through the crack, as it were. The shower cubicle was small and dirty. There was a camp bed in the room which we used to store our suitcases until one day a member of staff turned up to remove the bed!
When we stayed there wasn't too much to do in the evening except drink at the small bar (no cash - you have to buy tokens).
The inclusive food was so-so. The salads were very nice but the pasta and the meat dishes weren't very appetising. The 'free' coffee was surprisingly terrible.
All in all, if you want a cheap week on a quite beach then this is the place for you. Just don't expect a busy nightlife.
