What People are saying

Needs a facelift

Lisadcurry on 16/11/2017 11:34

I stayed 2 nights for a business trip. While no specific issues, it was tired and dated. Check in was fine. Room smelled like cleaning products. Room service food was fair at best. People were friendly and helpful I will give the hotel that. Next time I will look elsewhere.

The overall ambiance of the hotel was lovely. The staff was great, but what troubled me about my stay here was that they charged my credit card multiple times for my stay, and had I not checked my account I would not have known. So what was supposed to have been a time of celebration, turned into me spending endless hours trying to rectify the screw up.😑

Family trip, renovation needed

The service was friendly, but the hotel overall is in a major need of an upgrade. The rooms feel like you're staying in a time warp from the 80s.

I wouldn't come back.

Free parking out front.

indoor/outdoor pool - nothing pretty

Old and showing it

tuko43 on 10/10/2017 21:43

Old and musty smelling room due to the old style air conditioning which just blows cold air in the room without removing the humidity. Had to change rooms after an hour because the bathroom faucet would not work and could not be fixed.
Bar was nicely attended and stocked but they pour measured shots here !!! I ordered a martini and it was served half full. Had to order a double to get a full drink and it was priced accordingly. There were two of us, we had a burger and a wrap...and three drinks each........the bill w/tip was 200 bucks.
Aside from those items, the food was very good and the personnel with friendly and helpful. Good location too.

Southside Jacksonville Marriott - Very Nice, Very Clean & Next to I-95

Barney B on 08/10/2017 21:09

I have stayed at the Jacksonville Marriott many times in the past, but probably not in the last 3 or 4 years...

Check-in was very easy and the front desk clerks were particularly cheerful and friendly...they had my room ready and I was able to get to it quickly...

I was upgraded to a King Executive - first time ever at this hotel - on the Concierge Floor and it was very nice!!

Upon entering the room on the immediate right was a bar/service area (see picture) where one could do some entertaining or take care of a family for a meal or drinks...then next is the living area which was nice and comfortable...there was a nice pull-out sofa for extra sleeping and side chairs...there were two nice table lamps (the bottom section could come on for dim light, or just the top, or even both), and there was a large floor lamp as well, with a foot control for the lamp itself...there was a large flat screen television...

Next came the sleeping room, and the bed was very comfortable and soft - just like I like it...there was a beautiful woodwork on the wall behind the bed and two side lamps on the wall with bed-level light controls...there was a nice desk just in front of the large flat screen television and there was a neat table lamp that all you did was touch it and it came on and if you held your finger or hand to the control the light increased, and then if you touched it again, it went off - pretty cool...there was also an unusual piece of furniture that had shelves and it held the ice bucket and glasses...

The bathroom was separated into two rooms...the lavatory area was large and there was one set of electrical sockets, not enough really for a couple, but suitable for just one person...the shower room/toilet was nice because the shower had a full-length glass door and it operated very smoothly...the toilet was off to the side...

There were two temperature controls and the room was well air conditioned when I got to my room, and the a/c worked excellently throughout my stay...

Though there were hor d' oeuvres in the Concierge Lounge, I was too busy to try it out...but I did have breakfast the next morning in the Concierge Lounge and it was very good...the wait staff were friendly and helpful, the television was playing and there were newspapers ready tog o...the food was scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, and potatos...there were the usual assortment of bread, yogurt, granola, oatmeal, and accoutrements...coffee, of course, and fruit juices...and real porcelain plates and real silverware!...

I would definitely stay at this hotel again...it is located adjacent to Interstate 95 about 5 miles south of downtown (if you go north), and it's just a short ride, if you go south, to go to I-395, the southwestern beltway for Jax...
