Overall the upgraded room was quite nice. However, when I entered the room it was a very bad sweat smell. I tried to find housekeeping on the floor and even was standing by the housekeeping trolley for a second, but nobody was there, so I gave up. It would be nicer if they use some air refreshers, as it is not nice to be in the room with such a bad smell. I was tired, so I went straight to bed for a nap and I got used to the smell later on. However, it wasn't a pleasant experience.
I would say that the kettle in the room was not up to the room standard and was looking quite disgusting too. Very comfy bed as always though.
I found really strange that you can only cool the room, but not heat.
I was quite disappointed with the executive lounge though. I stayed a night before at Sofitel and their lounge, and they had premium food and premium drinks. At Marriott lounge the offer was quite poor. When benchmarked against Marriott Sydney Harbour, Marriott Melbourne offering was very poor. The dessert was just pitiful. Fatty chorizo and cheap meat options didn't help of getting a better impression. Drink selection average, but I was positively surprised with Polish Vodka - I am originally from Poland. The lounge attendant was very efficient and friendly. Selection of alcohol, wine and gin - pretty cheap. I was missing mixed nuts - which would be perfect to drinks, instead only plain walnuts.
I would like to say that the staff was very friendly, even more than at Sofitel. However, Marriott Melbourne offer is much worse than Sofitel Melbourne on Collins. I guess, that should be something to work on.
Even breakfast was not up to standard. I asked for Eggs benedict with salmon. The sauce was not hollandaise. Salmon was basically put straight on the muffin. Normally, it should go to the oven with the muffin for a second. Good banana smoothie. After the evening experience with the lounge, we didn't even try to go to the lounge for breakfast.
Overall, the stay was not worth 40,000 Marriott Rewards points. Maybe 30,000. But the hotel redemption category is wrong for what is in offer.

Located in the CBD, the hotel is convenient to everything you will want to visit in Melbourne, including some amazing restaurants. Stayed in room 513; it was very clean and spacious; mattress was super comfortable; great water pressure in the shower. Gym facilities were nice, though it was crowded at 6 AM and I had to wait for a treadmill. Staff was absolutely lovely from our arrival to our departure. Wish we could have stayed another night.

Concierge staff were great top location and restaurant food was great close to everything. If I get the chance I would not hesitate in staying there again and recommend to anyone. There is a city double decker red bus tour stop only 150m down the road we really enjoyed that as. It helped us get our bearings

Great Service. Will definitely go back. Very good location too. Rooms are spacious and always clean. The staff are very helpful and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Great space for kids too.

This place was so welcoming right from our first greeting. We had been camping for days and our car was a mess. But the valet/concierge attendant (JC?) came right out and helped us with all of our luggage. He was so nice and helpful! We enjoyed the executive lounge for evening snacks and breakfast. Like other people mention, it is a bit small but never felt overcrowded. The room was comfortable and well kept up. We didn't have too much time to explore the city but it seemed like this was a good location - not too far from Federation Square. We also used the fitness center and the pool which were nice. Thank you, Marriott, for your continued attention to providing excellent service. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
