Hotel is closed...indefinitely!

After much research and early planning, I booked Hotel Massenet for three nights in June 2016. Yesterday, I got an email telling me the hotel is closed for good and they have transferred my reservation to their sister hotel, Hotel Régence. I'm so disappointed as the location and reviews aren't nearly as good. Anyone know what happened?

Main winning points are
a) Location: restaurants and the promenade are one block away; train station, old town and bus station are within 15 min walk
b)Good value. Spartan looking room was functional; bed was very comfortable
We stayed in their largest room though. Easy to get from the airport by bus. Will stay here again.
Superb value, so friendly and accommodating!

We stayed at the Massenet for 2 nights for the Nice to Cannes marathon, had 2 rooms booked for 2 couples. For 90 euros per room it was brilliant value! Location perfect, 2 min walk to sea-front or other way to main strip of restaurants. Hotel spotless, very clean rooms, a basic requirement that many other hotels fail on.
It's down a quiet side-street and was perfect for us as needed sleep for the marathon, the sliding doors/windows and shutter ensured a peaceful sleep both nights. It's not a hotel for majestic views of the sea, but we didn't want that and was perfect for us.
Service was the best part. The marathon finished in Cannes and they so kindly let us keep one the rooms until 5pm so we could come back and shower. That was brilliant, i've stayed at many European hotels and most would never offer that. And all weekend, very friendly greeting each time. All the staff we spoke too also spoke English, although 2 of our group of 4 do speak French so had it all covered!
Great Value in a perfect location!

The Hotel Massenet is a small hotel with lots of amenities, set well back from the street, so it is very quiet. We had a nice king bed room with lots of space and a wonderful bathroom. The room was equipped with a refrigerator and hand a comfortable chair. The staff on the desk were very helpful to us with directions to a laudramat, grocery store, or with suggestions for a good restaurant. We found George was particularly helpful to us.
Breakfast was not included in the room rate, but with a refrigerator and directions to the grocery store, we were able to eat breakfast in our room.
The hotels location is perfect. It is about 2 blocks from the Promenade and the Mediterranean. And the Old Town area is very close by. There are plenty of restaurants minutes from the hotel. And the train station is about a 15 minute walk.
Outstanding - Deserves better than 5 stars

We have been travelling for 6 weeks and this is far and away the best hotel we have stayed in. We stayed for 3 nights and we can't believe it's only a 3 star hotel. We have been travelling through Turkey and Italy and this hotel is head and shoulders above any of the 3 star hotels we have stayed in.
When we were shown our room we were so surprised. It was spotlessly clean, the bathroom was a good size and the bed was the best we’ve slept in. Air conditioning was excellent, as was the wifi connection. Many restaurants close by. 100 metres from the beach. Easy 15 minute walk from the train station.
Look this hotel is simply outstanding, and we cannot find a single fault.
The only tip I would give is to skip their breakfast, which is €10 and not included in the tariff. It was pretty ordinary.
