What People are saying
A reasonable motdel

We chose the motel because it was dog friendly and it happened to be in the right location for the night.
It is exactly as advertised, a budget motel. As such, I expected no frills, just a room to stay in. I found it to be exactly what I expected.
The positives: the staff is extremely friendly; the facility is dog friendly; they had what looked to be a nice pool; it was very convenient to I10; there was a gas station convenient to the motel; they've made an effort to updated their rooms.
The okay: it is adjacent to a big (but quiet) train yard; it looks both inside and out like an old building that probably has been neglected at times; they had breakfast. The rooms were freshly painted, the beds had updated covers, there was a large tv. The breakfast was hot if you consider that it had waffles, a toaster, and a microwave. While there was not much grass, it was adequate for dog walks.
The bad: the smell of smoke was PERVASIVE; it wasn't exactly clean. We were in a non-smoking room and the stink of smoke was unbelievable. There was a cigarette butt on the shower. Outside, the place just reeks of smoke. My guess is that when they updated, the once no -smoking rooms became smoking, which of course means that all rooms may as well be smoking now. In terms of cleanliness, it was moderate. The corners of the room were pretty gross, behind the tv was bad. When the dog's water spilled a little and I wiped it up, the cloth was black. Part of the problem is they have linoleum that looks like fake wood in the rooms, but no mat outside to wipe your feet so you track in everything.
But again, this is a BUDGET motel, not a more moderate hotel, so I feel that the room and motel in general were exactly what I'd expect.
Do not...repeat DO NOT...stay here!!!!!

Oh my - if you want to spend your night in a mold infested dump, you have hit pay dirt!!! This hotel is a dump, loaded with mold, refrigerator did not work. AC leaking all over the floor, beds did NOT look freshly made and did I say MOLD!!!!! Oh and the bugs on the ceiling. Asked the very nice attendant if we could have another room with at least a working fridg. Two other rooms were even worse. So we opted for door #1. Do yourself a favor and sleep in your car if you can't find a decent hotel because this one is just awful. If it wasn't so late and we haven't driven so far we would have done so even though we made a reservation I don't know what hotel these other reviewers stayed in that said their room was clean...because 3 of them we looked at were disgusting. I'm not that fussy and didn't have huge expectations...but seriously...tenting it next time.
One of the Red Roof Inn Better Ones!

As an old Best Western style one story building, the new owner of this Red Roof Inn has renovated all the rooms, hardwood flooring, plus all the amenities like microway, refridgerator, high speed secured internet, more TV channels you can watch in a week and more. It is clean, bed is comfortable, and they even serve and extended breakfast and of course coffee is hot and good 24/7.
Irma Relief

I was very sick when Irma hit, and we lost power. I couldn't handle not having power while being sick, so we got a room at Red Roof Inn in Baldwin until our power came back on. It was like heaven when I walked into that room! Turned the air down to 70 and relaxed! The room was fine. It wasn't 5 star, but it was nice. Had a small fridge and microwave, was perfect for us! The thing that was fabulous was the staff! They were extremely helpful, kind, and seemed like they really like their job. No fake kindness or snotty attitudes....just genuinely good people. The breakfast was good as well, plenty of options. The experience was great, and I highly recommend this place if you need a place to lay your head.
Running from Irma

After hours of trying to get back to Florida and driving through the tropical storm that followed us to South Carolina the voice of DOANYE was a slice of paradise! When she gave us the last 3 rooms and was kind enough to hold them when we kept getting disconnected by phone. It's nice to have someone during a trying time show such kindness. I couldn't wait to give her a big hug when we arrived, which I promptly did
Thank you DOANYE for saving us last night!
