Golf and sun in Cozumel

This was our second visit to the Melia, Cozumel. It was much cheaper to book our stay on line through the Melia web site than using an airline or middleman booking site. However we had trouble booking the package with golf online and waited until we arrived to arrange golf. This was a mistake as they seem they seem to want you to call the hotel directly to add golf to your stay. There is currently no way to add golf to your package when booking online. Anyway, we love golfing in Cozumel and our stay in the upgraded tower rooms was wonderful. We enjoyed meeting people from other countries and eating in the restaurants. The service is excellent throughout the hotel. As some of you know, the beaches around the Melia are very sandy, and the water is cloudy/sandy. If you want to snorkel you must walk south a 1/4 mile or so, or take a snorkel tour.

I had a great experience with the hote. Pools were great and the food was just amazing. The Mayordomo Cesar, receptionist Tania and bartender Hilario were great people and extremely professional. I would love to go back next year.

Was not I,pressed the second time because of change over of ownership but thought I would visit one more time. Well this time was incredible!! Overall the staff are all very polite, courteous, appreciate the tourist and do their jobs with passion and will make your stay an unforgettable experience. Stayed in the adults only section with premium service. We were there from November 11 to 18. Premium service you get to reserve the Bally beds on the beach, of which we had no problem as there were not many staying at the resort. Doormen victor and Alfredo were great to talk with. The person to serve your needs on the beach, Joaquin, I think this is how you spell his name, was an incredible person with very high standards. You could not ask for a better person to help you with anything. He was very appreciative of his customers and did an outstanding job and took his work seriously. He was a joy to speak with and quite knowledgable of the area. Reservation attendant Benjamin was another great staff member who gave us an extra half hour after check out as we were leaving pretty late on our last day. Two waiters, Alberto and Adrian had us laughing all week and were great fun. Entertainer, Otoniel remembers your name and makes you feel welcome in any activities you participate in. They are not people who push you on joining in and respect you if you are not interested in their activities. Great job by all the staff, keep up the good work. All the food was very delicious and always a variety of food and always hot. When a certain food was empty it would be replenished quickly. We reserved one night at the Italian restaurant but we're disappointed in the food as it was very salty. A suggestion to the resort to not put so much salt as it did not need it, otherwise all was very good. Activities during the day took place mostly at the kiddies pool so I urge you to read the itinerary so you know what is going on and join in. A friend and I were the only ones to make friendship bracelets on kiddie chairs and had a great time. Rooms were beautiful with maid service and a few nights of turn down service with chocolates left on the pillows. Beds were very comfortable along with the pillows. Fridge was kept stocked daily and plenty of water bottles. Our friends found their room smelled quite musty and management tried immediately to solve the issue by bringing them a dehumidifier. It works for awhile and ended up changing rooms with no issues. Great service that was welcoming. Bathrooms were very clean and washed down daily. Plenty of clean towels, shampoos and necessities. We really felt spoiled for the week. Our only issue was with the airlines that we used and will be written in a separate review. We had stormy weather the first two days and the staff were cleaning the seaweed daily and started very early in the morning. Nightly entertainment did not have many attendees but this could be due to the time of year with not many tourists. We went with another coup,e who have never been to Cozumel and were very impressed with Melia Cozumel and will all be returning next year. Keep up the fantastic work Melia.

Accommodations were average with a few needed adjustments to make it a competitive luxury vacation location. We enjoyed the visit, but wouldn’t necessarily return to this hotel. Too many places to visit in the world to say we’d definitely come back. It was a slightly off season time, but we’d expect more if it were prime season. Not sure this met the mark. Wasn’t bad, but definitely wasn’t close to our expectations either. So much seaweed, it was almost impossible to enjoy swimming at the resort beach (we rented a car & went elsewhere).
