What People are saying

Cozy design, great service, best location, but improvement of jakuzzi is needed

raus_hier on 03/10/2017 12:41

We enjoyed our 6 nights stay there very much. Pick-up at the airport was as agreed, and we were very kindly introduced to our room Ble. The interior looks as great as on the pictures, and hardly any marks of time could be identified. The terrace on the first floor has an awesome view and is a great place for a sun downer, even when it is in the shadow from about 4 pm (in September). The city center is about 10 minutes walking, and offers the most scenic places for dinner on the island.

Most of the complaints of others posted here seem somewhat whacky and should not turn you away from this hotel, such as the "lack of fresh flowers" or other nonsense. All amenities are there and are in a great condition. The shower is actually too small and flooding the floor of the bathroom is inevitable. We also asked for a washing service, which was done in less than one day.

The owner seems very keen to steadily improve the amenities and respond to the comments here on tripadvisor, as shadow is now provided for the ground floor terraces and blinds have been installed to prevent views between the apartments. However, we think the owner needs to address one more thing to turn this place in an ultimate experience, which is to pay further attention to the jakuzzi - the only reason for giving 4 instead of 5 points. It's heating is limited to 27C, which is too cold to enjoy a bath in the moonshine. Additionally, there is no cover for the jakuzzi so that the sun has left ugly marks on the plastic. The jets also have some algae, which should be avoided. So if the jakuzzi is relevant for you, we would recommend asking the owner whether the temperature can freely be chosen by the guest.

Overall, we recommend a stay there very much, you will get an accommodation looking 1:1 as on the hotel website, including the stunning views and great service.

Great Dissapointment

worldgreek_traveller on 15/08/2017 10:32

A lot of things happened during our stay which made it very unpleasant.
According to the official website they would welcome us with Greek traditional sweets, fresh fruit basket, welcome drink and fresh flowers. We were offered nothing of the above. On the contrary we were obliged to ask the villa manager to bring us something to eat making reference to the website. Instead of fresh flowers there was a dried plant in the kitchen.
There is no external door. You just climb some stairs and you end up at the balcony of the first floor. That cannot give you the feeling of privacy, as every second of the day somebody can just appear at your balcony. Additionally there is eye-contact with the neighbors. Even if you want to ignore all of this and you want to have your breakfast there, I wouldn’t recommend it as in the morning you cannot avoid the sun. If on the other hand you want to use the upstairs balcony it’ s all day under the sun and there is no tent. If you dare to have a shower in both bathrooms a lake is created all over the floor. There is also an exposed electrical wire in the bathroom. On the kitchen roof there is a construction from glass through with passes the sun and it’s so hot that makes you feel like you are in a greenhouse. In front of the first floor’s bed there is a wall which doesn’t let you see the external view or watch TV. The villa is situated at a 10min distance on foot from the Chora center. The problem is that you have to walk on the central road which is very dangerous especially if you are returning at night. If you have a rented car think it twice if you want to use it as it is difficult to find parking in the Chora center.
One of the reasons we chose the villa was the external private Jacuzzi, which on the first day of use was damaged. Although the owner couldn’t fix it and we asked him to let us leave earlier or compensate us he refused. Moreover their next move was to try and take the remaining amount for the payment from my credit card. They didn’t replace the toiletries daily and the last day we ended up without toilet paper. The cleaning lady also opened the wardrobe and moved our things to put inside pillows and sheets. The wi-fi on the second floor didn’t work the first days. Even after the technician repaired it some hours it was difficult to connect.
Overall the design of the villa was good but it lacked functionality. The owner couldn’t manage professionally the problems that appeared. According to their website and the money we spent (300€ per night) we had high expectations. On the contrary our stay at the villa was very disappointing.

nice villa in Astipalaia

The building consists of three villas: green, white and blue. We were in the green one. We picked that because from the first floor it has a better view of the Chora.
We were lucky because the other two villas were empty, and we could enjoy some privacy; I think when there are people in all the three you can see other people when you are in the terrace.
The villa is very spacious, nicely furnished, good level of cleanness. All the villas have two floors, and the green and the blue have a little terrace in the upper floor.
The only point is that wifi was not working in the upper floor, so you couldnt use it on the terrace, and the jacuzzi was not working (and was dirty).
Position is also very good, as it is close to the Chora, but you better rent a motorbike or a car, otherwise you are too disconnected.
Breakfast was really great in quantity and quality, we have been spoiled the days we were there, and it arrived always punctual.
However, other services advertised on the webpage (eg evening shutdown, or fruit basket welcome drink) were not delivered.
We had overall a very good experience.

Disappointed!

The resort has 3 Villas and we wanted to book the one that was just in front of the Chora with the Castle view from both balconies.
When contacted them early in March 2015, the staff confirmed (both by email & phone) that the correct Villa close to the Chora was the Villa Verde (not the Villa Ble as we assumed from the photos).

Our stay was for more than a week at the end of August 2015.

Having confirmed all the info we arrived, we realised that was not the Villa we wanted and in fact it was on the opossite side.
The view to the Chora was only from the upstairs balcony. For us it was very disappointing as we made it extremely clear from the beginning.

Immediately we asked to speak to the manager to see if we could change the Villa or leave earlier but he was 'busy'. The next morning the assistant came to ask for the full payment (we gave the 50% deposit in March)
Not only they were misleading and unprofessional but they also assumed that we were going to go without paying.

The morning after (the 3rd) the assistant came back asking for the payment again but with a different Credit card as they told us that the 1st one didn't work.
We contact our bank and they comfirmed that the payment gone through and it will take 2 to 3 days - again they didn't believe us so they were insisting for the payment.
Luckily we didn't accept to use a different day and on the 4th day the assistant came to apologise.
In the meantime the manager was 'still very busy'... we need to add that everyone in the island is very welcoming, nice, lovely and friendly so we were even more badly impressed for the approach.

The Villa is very nice with high tech and with a beautiful interesting style, but everytime we had a shower the bathroom was a lake. The cleaner nicely gave us extra towels to collect the water and to avoid having water in the living room. For a such an expensive villa we didn't expect that.
The kitchen was like a green house. Extremely hot and it was end of summer. The roof is made by glass and it's supposed to open but it was broken the last few years and they are not fixing it.

Except all that. In their website was written that in their services they include: Welcome treat with Greek traditional sweets / fresh basket at our arrival, welcome Drink and Fresh Flower, Farewell drink at the Yacht Bar in the main town of Astypalaia, farewell gift at your departure courtesy of Melograno. Basically none of the above happened. For a start the Yacht Bar closed 2/3 year ago.. is not even there.

On the positive, the assistant and the cleaner were nice and friendly, the breakfast each morning was very tasty, the balconies had a nice view to the sea, the bed was cocomat and very comfortable.
If you expect to have a fair service for the money you pay, our advice is not to go there.
Astypalaia has a lot more nicer fair places to stay depending on the money you want to spend.

Excellent.

I spent 3 days in Melograno Villas Hotel and i am more than satisfied. The hotel is located near a beautiful beach with crystal clear waters and with easy access to the town. The rooms were very clean, traditionaly decorated with perfect service and a spetacular view. The staff made me feel like home. I highly recommend it.
