The hotel reception showed welcome drink for special occasion. Room is big. On the top of hotel with gym, bar, pool, restaurant, meeting business room etc with open air views in the photos. Beach is 3 -5 minutes walk from the hotel. A shopping mall is just beside the hotel. You can find some food there or buy some swimming wear if you need. Also history center is just right the corner. Enjoy your stay.

I had booked a night at the Mendes as my family had been staying there for the week and I was joining them prior to us moving on elsewhere.
The hotel is on a busy city centre avenue but has reserved drop-off and pick-up outside the front entrance. The valet parks your car and brings your car to the front.
I had reserved 2 rooms, a standard double room, which comes with a super king bed and a super king 'Luxo' (luxury) room with a sea view. The sea view was ridiculous. As shown in the picture, it is barely a slit in between 2 buildings. I got a better view of the Capoeira school in another building across the street! The room was also no different to the standard rooms my family had been staying in. I believe it had cost me an extra R$80 or so, for a 'Luxo' room but I could not figure out what I had paid for!
However, saving the best till last:
The hotel itself is fantastic. Very well decorated, modern and very clean. The roof-top pool area is amazing. Lots of different areas of entertainment, including pool room, gaming computers. Restaurant I am told was also very nice.
Breakfast is served in one of the restaurant areas. The actual food served was tasty and fresh but choice was nothing special. The biggest highlight was the staff. The level of service was outstanding. Whether you are dealing with a waitress or the valet, you get a personalised service. Restaurant staff were especially fantastic. Well done team.
I would absolutely return to this hotel, but would recommend you not book a higher grade room unless you personally see the room on arrival.

Hotel is very good, clean, staff is very friendly. We came for my husband's triathlon race and the hotel even changed breakfast hours to accommodate all athletes and had special menu. We highly recommend staying there!

The hotel is very well located in the center of the city. Facilities are good and generally good standard hotel. Food in restaurant is very good and front desk service makes you feel welcome. Customer service orientation by staff in morning buffet area with exception of 1 person could be worked on and wifi in hotel room was very poor and the cleaning in room if staying longer period of time could improve. Do not answer the customer enquiry by mail. I did with some low marks in some areas and was asked for additional information. Polite as I am answered with some details for improvement thinking it could help them. Did then get back that I was a very demanding customer and if this was the reason I checked out 3 weeks early. Paradox was main critique was service orientation to which I can add customer service staff.
Despite this can recommend the hotel, would properly not come back myself.

Very nice and clean hotel offering spacious rooms. The hotel is in a very good location just fiew meetings from the beach and ten minutes of the city center. It is located next to Mendes shopping plaza. Very convenient.
