Front of house ambiance is fine but the rest of the hotel was dowdy with an ancient dirty carpet that seemed to be in all of the corridors and rooms and made for a depressing atmosphere. The room reeked of fresh paint and by 9 a.m. the only breakfast available was the fried components. All other items had run out and had not been replaced. Reception staff were fine. Room service efficient. Breakfast waitress invisible. Really a very disappointing hotel not up to Mercure standard. Travel Lodge or Premier Inn would have been better for less.

Stayed for one night en-route to the airport. mid November. Access is difficult from the car park which isn't well lit in the dark. There are some steep steps up to the main entrance. A fire door is propped open in the day which allows easier access but is closed at night. It's an old hotel with single glazed sash windows which rattle. The bathroom had been refurbed and was very nice. I had a small double room which was ok for single occupancy. It's close to the airport, only 10 mins from car park to car park.My car was frozen over with thick ice as was the car park so it was very slippy and there was absolutely no-one around in the hotel to help early in the morning, even to check me out.

Stayed here for one night when attending a party locally, its a great hotel and superb value and had everything you need. Room was clean and comfortable, common areas are a little tired, check in was fast and efficient, plenty of parking and great location next to Hale centre, I would stay here again.

We stayed for 2 nights all inclusive . Facility's great feee wifi, gym sauna steam room pool all free. Rooms very clean . We were grind floor do no worry with cases up steps . Food was ok soup fantastic . We were welcomed by the manager and he was lovely and friendly.. we will stay again .. all inclusive you get small glasses wine but this is fine you just ask more times for drinks x

I stayed at the hotel for one night early October en-route to Manchester Airport and left my car for two weeks as part of a Stay, Park and Fly package. The car parking arrangement is not conducive to park & fly use since the rear car park is much lower than the hotel reception. I had to push the suitcase up a long ramp around the car park then carry it up some steps to the entrance doors which require to be pushed open, then to further carry the case up two flights of stairs to my room. The room was stuffy and had a musty smell. On my return the taxi dropped us off at the reception where we unloaded the cases. I then had to walk to the back of the hotel to pick up my car and as it was quite dark and raining it was not clear to me where to walk and I ended up slipping on the ramp to the car park badly twisting my ankle. Just what I didn't want on the first day back in the country. Something needs to be done to improve guest safety in the winter months.
