This hotel was quite unexpected. We didn't get to stay long enough but it was comfy and elegant. The manager was very helpful and kind. I loved the lobby and the art work. It was a bit of challenge finding our room but that just made it more fun.

My husband and I stayed here as we attended a function nearby, we had looked at lots of other hotels in booking.com but this one looked the nicest, it was expensive for one nights stay in a standard double room at £92 with additional £22 for breakfast.
On arrival we were impressed at the size of carpark and the outside of building looked very grand. However when we went in we were met with a queue of people all waiting to be checked in, it was 5pm but the systems were down making check in difficult, after half a hour we were given our keycard and directed to our room. We noticed the corridors looked much nicer central to the hotel but in serious need of attention in places, very creaky floorboards too. We found our room and was extremely disappointed when we went in! The room itself was tiny! The double bed was shoved up against the wall only allowing one side free with a bedside table with phone on it, the furniture was very dated and dirty! There was a trouser press against the wall with Theo irons next to it, the one that was attached to it was broken, there was an oil filled radiator there, a kettle with a few tea coffee portions, no bottled water. The bathroom had not been cleaned, the toilet was dirty with filth around the rim on show, someone’s used soap in a dirty soap dish and 3/4 used toilet paper on the holder. Grubby shower curtain, there was broken attachments for the shower which was more just a mixer tap, the old windows were absolutely filthy with black grime and chipped old paint, there was missing tiles which had been replaced with odd coloured ones, and at the side and behind the toilet looked as though it had never been cleaned ever! in the bedroom area the carpet was dirty as was the duvet, the windows were filthy and very old single glazing, it was a particularly windy day and the curtains moved with the draft, we understood why the oil filled radiator was there along side the one fitted under the window. We attempted to call the reception about our concerns but got no answer, even the telephone handset was dirty. We went down to reception but no one there, we were in a rush out so decided to challenge on our return. We were late back and no reception staff about so we though best to speak to the person in charge in the morning. That night the windows rattled due to the weather which kept us awake much of the night.
In the morning we went for breakfast, we waited 10 mins for a staff member to seat us, she was very apologetic and told us they were extremely short staffed and the systems were still down. The breakfast itself was very good! But again the cleaning let it down. After breakfast we tried to ring reception again but no answer, I decided to go to reception and wait for someone. When I got there there was a few people checking out, I asked for the manager, the gentleman assisting me went to find the assistant manager, she came to see me straight away, I explained my concerns and asked her if she would have a look at the room, in a nut shell, she was extremely apologetic and we were not charged for the room. All in all our stay was very bad, it’s such a shame that we didn’t received what had been advertised, I was told the room rate was so high because they were busy that weekend, although I would disagree that’s a good enough excuse to rip people off. I suggest get some cleaners in!!!
Great Night Out

Visited with my husband fir a Rotary charity evening. The room was laid out beautifully. The PA systems were spot on which meant we could hear the speeches at one side of the room and the entertainment later at the other side. We enjoyed a 3 course meal which was tasty and plentiful. I had mushroom soup, chicken with mash and roast veg (2 breasts which was loads) and the most delicious sticky toffee pudding... Mmm.
The staff were speedy and efficient and extremely kind to the guests on my table done of who had additional needs. They really did go the extra mile for them.
Daughters wedding

Our daughter and her bridesmaids arrived at the hotel the day before the wedding and were treated like royalty. They couldn't have asked more from the staff especially Mike who was coordinating the wedding. He bent over backwards to make the whole experience special. On the day of the wedding the computers at the hotel were down but the staff worked extremely hard to accommodate our party. Everything went smoothly throughout the day thanks to all the staff.
We had so many compliments from our guests about how good the food was so compliments to the catering staff.
The honeymoon suite was a bit hot so my daughter requested a fan to be put in there. This was sorted straightaway. Our friends and family who stayed the night all said their rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.
I would not hesitate to recommend this venue for a wedding.
I would like again to thank your dedicated staff and especially Mike for making our daughters wedding day very special.
