What People are saying

Lovely hotel with lovely staff

juneybum on 21/11/2017 21:09

We were so happy with our stay here. The hotel is old but looked after well. The young lady who looked after us in the restaurant was so helpful and bubbly. The food in the restaurant in the evening was very good too.
The staff in the spa though were the best, so helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us to fit in with our stay. We will be visiting Leeds regularly and we would stay here again.

Dire!

Booked here for two nights as a short getaway. We paid one of the upgraded rooms, and wished we hadn't. The room was cramped and overlooked the ballroom so we had to contend with loud disco music late into the night.

If we hadn't gone for an upgrade we'd have been at the back of the hotel overlooking the park and had a bit of peace and quiet.

We had dinner at the hotel on the first night. It was vile. The tempura squid was in soggy stodgy batter and the "stone baked pizza" was straight out of the freezer and burnt. We sent it back without touching it.

The only saving grace of the hotel is that when the smokers in the ballroom set off the fire alarm they handed out thermal blankets to the children whilst they waited in the rain and cold.

We didn't stop a second night.

Cold and noisy room

Hotel looks great from the outside and has plenty of facilities however the big let down was the room.
Arrived to be met by Juan who was very professional quick, once booked in it was off to the room (311). The lift takes you to the floor; however there is an additional 5 or 6 steps to get your case up. The room was ok size wise, but cold, so we cranked the heat up on the radiator from 3 to max and that's where it stayed all night. The bathroom is a bit of a joke as the shower is very small and at 5ft10 I had to duck to mash my hair and the toilet is in the most ridiculous place as the door brushes the toilet when open and close it. The towel rail is a towel rail so ignore the warning hot rail sign. We left around 3 hours later and the room was still cold and we were expecting it to be toasty on return.. oh how wrong were we!!!! The party finished bang on 1am which was about 10.mins after we got back plied with plenty of drink we just wanted sleep. Woke at around 4am to hear loading ticking noises as the radiators and pipes cooled down. And again at around 7am as they warmed up.
Explained the above to reception on leaving and that there was no blankets and all we got was sorry we will tell house maintainance but not sure how as she did not even take note of our room number
The booking was cheap luckily but would not stay here again in winter

It was okay

nicolae535 on 15/11/2017 21:11

The rooms were a good price hence why we did not complain. Our room was very clean with a comfortable bed which was great. The problem with the old rooms in the building are 1. No lift. Hard going with heavy suitcases. 2. Shower was pants. No pressure or temperature regulator. Gave in on that one. 3. TV remote did not work. 4. The bar/breakfast charges. £23 for a bottle of house red and £11 for a breakfast. Breakfast was OK but nowhere near the choice as the Premier Inn.

Adequate

greenbeck on 12/11/2017 14:09

The experience was adequate. The room was nice enough but the banging and water trickling through the radiator all night detracted from it. The bed was comfortable. The signing on the stairs back to Reception could be improved. The dining room was characterless (although the evening waiting staff were lovely). The check in and check out was hassle free. The hotel met my requirements but it did not go any further than that.
