I stayed in 4 different places in South Africa and this was by far the best. It's a beautiful guesthouse is a fantastic location- minutes walk from the centre of Stellenbosch and extremely good value.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly and always on hand to help. The breakfasts were delicious too!
Well recommended and would definitely go back.

For the amount of money we paid for our 2 night stay (R3300 a night!!!) i was expecting a lot more than what was offered. For example: fresh milk in the room and perhaps a complimentary bar fridge. A nespresso machine as opposed to parmalat milk cartons and sachets of bad coffee. At breakfast I had to ask for filter coffee as this was not on offer. No toast was provided wtih our breakfast and the overall food selection was very poor. The carpets need to be renewed - they are old and look very dirty. The manor has such potential but needs a revamp and perhaps a better management team on board. Its the small details that make a stay unforgettable- but I feel ripped off and very disappointed. Will not be coming back.

We loved it: great service, lovely decor, absolutely delicious breakfast and within walking distance from wonderful shops and restaurants. The manager recommend WineEscapes for a wine tour which I highly recommend (John was excellent). A lovely garden and little pool, and a nice indoor lounge made it a great place to decompress.

We booked 4 Nights. After living in similar rated Boutique Hotels during our South Africa stay - we were honestly dissapointed by Middedorp Manor. Our room was neat & clean but you could see the missing maintainence. Welcome Message Cards were stained, the Wall had brittles, the paint was poor. The room needed some maintanace, which is dissapointing if you pay 240€ / night! Breakfast was ok, but nothing special. Breads & stuff were counted...first come first serve.... However, we were honest and as a consequence left the hotel one night in advance. Although the Manager Isolde promised a refund in case the room would be rebooked (It was rebooked!) we until today havent heard of her. Mails are not being anwsered. Thats dissapointing.

We stayed for 2 nights at this wonderful guest house - it had a very colonial feel to it and breakfast outside on the terrace was delightful with a great choice of fruits, cereals, pastries and cooked breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff ; they made us feel very special and one of the housekeeping staff went beyond the call of duty when I thought I'd lost my phone as we were leaving. The room and en suite bathroom were huge, very clean and comfortable. Also complimentary bottle of red wine in the room, which was a nice touch.
